      September 8, 2007:

At 7:30 AM the Garfield crew, consisting of Dirt, Trekman, Jared, Gret, Clint, Marc, Marty, Sue, Carol, and Kelly started off towards the summit of Garfield. Our flag was flying proudly in a stiff west wind at 11:30 and remained until 2 PM. Some of the hikers were new to this event and everyone who participated enjoyed the memorial.

We could spot flags on Flume, Liberty, Lincoln, Lafayette, South Twin, Galehead, Bond, West Bond, and Bondcliff.

It was a day we won’t soon forget, enjoying the company of family and friends, feeling fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of such a memorial. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who perished and to the survivors of September 11, 2001; a day we will never forget.

It was another successful year with a great crew traveling to Garfield’s summit. Always good to share the load of pole and flag, thanks Dirt for holding the rain back as well as clearing the clouds once on top for some reasonable views.
Cheers to all for their efforts and prayers to those who lost loved ones back in 2001.
