We met at the 19 mile brook trail head, and I was tardy. We got on the trail a tad after 8:00 am heading up South Imp. The trip up was uneventful and the trail was in good condition. The first time the three of us had hiked together and we all agreed it was too warm and humid. Upon reaching the top, we decided to set up the flag a little south of the true peak to increase visibility of the flag, since Middle Carter is very much treed in. We got the flag up by noon and took it down promptly at 2:00 pm. RLC & Glenn were great company during the two hours and we had the opportunity to converse with mostly through hikers during that time. Man, some of them really need a bath!!!
We hiked on to South Carter, Carter Dome and Mt. Hight and a decent with head lamps. During our hike we did pass several hikers who complimented us on the flag that was visible from South Carter and Carter Dome. This made us feel better about our decision to fly the flag south of the peak. It was an awesome day to raise a flag high and proud, with awesome company for the day, thank you very much RLC & Glenn for your help and camaraderie.
The worst part of the day was the black flies, in September, what is up with that??
