Mt Willey is located in Crawford notch and is part of the Willey Range. It’s height is 4,285 feet. We will be taking the Ethan Pond trail to the Willey Range trail. The Ethan Pond trail to the Willey Range trail is 1.6 miles, and should take us 1 hour and 25 minutes. The Willey Range trail to the summit of Mt. Willey is 1.1 miles and should take us 1 hour and 20 minutes. Totals to the summit: 2.7 miles, 2 hrs 45 minutes, elevation gain; 2,850 feet. We will be flying the American flag on top of the summit from noon until 2. We will reverse direction for our trip back and most likely get to the trail head around 4:45. Please note that the AMC guide book describes the Willey Range trail as very steep and rough with several ladders. Also there are a number of brook crossing along the way.
