This was what I did last year, and it worked well given the constant chance for inclement weather on Mt Washington, while beautiful pretty much every where else.
Me & Bill will be hiking up the Ammo trail, from the Ammo trailhead parking lot on Friday Sept 12, to the LOTC hut, and spending the night Friday night at Lakes of the Clouds (always so much fun!!). We have the flag, poles, zip ties, ropes necessary to tie the flag to the Obs deck in view of the webcam. We will have a very small handheld flag (just to hold for pictures) for at the summit rock pile and sign.
Saturday morning we will hike over to the summit from LOTC hut to fly the flag from 12-2, then take down, and descend via Jewell trail back to the Ammo trailhead parking lot.
This is of course our plan. We understand overnight at the LOTC hut isn’t cheap, so anyone else doing this peak is welcome to just hike up Saturday AM early and we can meet in the cafeteria at the summit.
Also, those joining need to make their own LOTC hut reservation if you choose that route. If you are hiking a different route, please contact me so we can plan a time to meet at the summit on Saturday.
