I have never hiked Madison so I am open to ideas. I’ve been researching it and see that there are various routes up and down…some rated better than others. I prefer to be above treeline for as long as possible. Views are high on my list! Some routes may be less desirable depending on the weather. Feel free to discuss.

Last time I went up to Madison, back in 2014, I took Valley Way from Appalachia trail head on Rt2.
It has a stream running parallel to the trail, most of the way up, not always right beside it, but close. I thought it was a nice trail.
I did the Presidential traverse from Madison to Lakes, north to south and out via Crawford path to Highland ctr. EPIC trek!
I am not registered for Madison, went on the site late and it was full, but I will be there, I’m staying at Madison hut Saturday night.
I have done 5 Flags on the 48 to date, a great day to get a peak in, and honor those who died on 9/11.
        See you there jake,.

After chatting with some others and doing doing research I’ve decided we will take the Pine Link Trail off the Dolly Copp Road… Pine Link to Watson will be the planned route….meet at the trailhead 7 a.m. to summit for 12 noon. Some folks have stated they are doing different routes or staying at the hut the night before. Let’s all see each other at the top for a great photo!! It looks like the weather is gonna be good….but it is the Whites so you never know!
