A group of us stayed at Madison Hut on Friday night so we would have a easier go on Saturday. Some of the group who are working on the 4000′ list needed Madison & Adams, as well as Jefferson so it was nice for them to add some peaks to their list.

Friday was simply beautiful on the ridge but Saturday brought some very heavy winds going to and espcially from Jefferson.

We were able to raise the flag from 11:30 – 1:50, at which time the winds really started to gust and our pole began to bend (we are now considering re-doing our pole system for next year).

Some of our group came up that day over Caps Ridge, some came from a morning’s hike from Washington but we were able to meet on top and have our 10 shot salute (6/distilled vodka), a moment of silence and a reading (this year was Obama’s address to the country after OBL was shot & killed).

The hike back was interesting as the winds were knocking us all over Edmands Col, the rains came but we all made it safely back to Madison Hut for a second night.

Thanks to all for organizing this great event. We all look forward to next year.
