Hi, sorry. Just one other question. I noticed on there web-site there is a two-night minimum stay on weekends. Is there anyway around that, I can’t come up friday, only saturday.

I *think* we’re all set because it’s after the busy season. Jay – you spoke to them, are we all clear on that?

Jay – also – I’ve been mentioning to people to drop by, but totally forgot about the whole “day use fee” thing. Are people going to have to pay $5 to visit us or is that all set? I’d rather just pony up a set amount out of my own pocket to them and have visitors not need to worry. Especially if they’re only stopping by for 10 minutes.

Oh, the answer to your first question is yes, just show up and pay there (see first post in this thread). To the Highland Center it should be about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes; it’s around 35 miles.

Incidentally, Periwinkle called the KOA today to arrange a cabin (her husband had surgery and can’t sleep on the ground) and the person she talked to had no idea we were coming. I told Peri that Jay had spoken to Darlene and that we should be expected. She has to call back tomorrow and will make sure all is set and that it was just a false alarm.

Sounds like last year MichaelJ at Mooseland. Dirt and I arrived at about 4:00 as first ones and told the waitress about the 50+ that were coming. She looked at me like I was on dope! When you expect that fellow employees talk about plans like these, you need to assume *NOTHING*. 😕

              Trekman is right, never assume.

I can say that KOA told me that our group is welcomed, they would put us in the same spot and there would be a 10% discount for all who present some sort of FOT48 material.

I am trying to get up there early to work out those “pesky” what if type of questions, but it is up in the air right now.

My personal thoughts. Anytime after 3:00pm there will be plenty of us there to point people in the right direction and help out if need be. If people arrive before me or MJ just prop up a flag for all to see (island on the right side of the main building).

My guess right now, there will be about 20 FOT48 people there…hopefully more.

              MJ,

Yeah day use. My answer would be “let’s see what happens”. If KOA wants to (which is their right), I will help out with that so people are not so turned off.

I’m assuming they are just charging for 1 night as opposed to 2, b/c of it being off season. It was $15.00 if I recall for the planning meeting, right?
I will try and phone KOA today/tomorrow to get an answer.

              Peace.

                Great news.

OK…being a type A, I had to call KOA right away to get the “word”.

KOA Broken Branch will charge FOT48 crews, $9.00 per person (straight). This is, from what I remember, a very good deal.

Just remember to have something with the FOT48 on it. Patch, mission statement, etc…

As far as day use, again, let’s wait and see.

                Peace.

In that it looks like no real get together for after the event, a couple of Team Moriah may well stop by Saturday for a short visit. Camping at Dolly Copp about 1 hour away and need to snore early to hit the trail early. But it will be good to see a few FOT48’ers that evening.

Excellent – thanks for confirming all that, Jay.

And I agree – if they charge the day use fee for visitors and that’s a hardship for anyone, I’ll chip in and cover.

I’ll be there between 3 and 4pm – Bunchberry and I will be doing a hike that afternoon on our way up. I may not make it to the scouts with SilentCal but that’s okay.

In your KOA tally please add me and my son.
For what it is worth we may arrive at the Mooseland for an apres flag burger.

Awesome work Jaytrek. I’ll be stopping by to visit on Saturday night with my crew. I’ll bring a smaller grill than my usual one for anyone to use. It will be really good to see everyone!

I could bring my weber Q for folks.

If hiking Team Moriah member Fiddlehead is agreeable, maybe we will bring some grilling stuff to KOA if there is to be a grill available (our car will already be loaded). We are camping at Dolly Copp and will set-up in the afternoon, then drive down to KOA (ouch, the gas!). In just three weeks, Fiddlehead and I will be married, so I think I can talk her into my plan! 😆 😉

Hope to see you there, TrekMan. There will be grills, ‘cuz I’m counting on somebody having one there to use to cook dinner, and I’ll be *hungry*.
                              🙂

I’ll commit to having mine there.
