Our hardy crew had the flag flying on a 20′ pole by about 11:30a in cold and high wind conditions. :flag:
By hiding on the lee side in the rocks we were able to withstand the weather quite comfortably, greeting many hikers and handing out all of 5 dozen macadamia/white chocolate chip cookies to the passers by! It surprised me how many hikers (and hut croo) were unaware of the event.
We broke down the flag a bit after 2p for the exit hike and encountered only light rain for the last hour of the walk. Wind and rain at Appalachia dampened any plans we had for tailgating, so after a cold celebratory beverage we headed for home.
We all enjoyed a fun and rewarding day. Thank you Madison FOT48 crew!
Looking forward to 2015!
