Our group stayed at the Highland Center. We spotted cars at Edmands Path and then traveled to the Ammo trailhead for a a 8:35 a.m. start. There were an incredible amount of hikers on the trail Saturday but we traveled with good speed, rested at Lakes and then headed up to Monroe. We actually had the flag up by 11:30 and stayed up until 2:00 with many hikers passing by for photos and good cheer. At noon, we had a moment of silence, followed by Taps and then some readings reminding us why we do what we do. Our group is very proud to be involved in this great event for the past 6 years. We can’t thank the organizers enough. We hiked out across the ridge to Edmands Path for a nice loop and we ran into the Eisenhower group on the way down.
