Mount Hale had the Flag flying from 11:30 until 2PM. Pulled into the parking lot just after nine to meet Larry and his grandson, Spencer. My girlfriend met us there too, we started the ascent just after 9:30. Made great time on the way up.
While the Flag was raised Larry played a recording of Kate Smith singing, ‘God Bless America.’ The day was just right, just enough wind, sunny skies, and a lot of great people stopping by to see and take pictures of the Flag.
It is quite awesome that so many people partake in this memorial hike to remember those killed nine years ago. Like another post I read today, it does not have to be somber the whole time. There have been some great people I have met over the last three years I’ve participated.
Larry and Spencer were a great help, and we are glad to have met them. It was very enjoyable to spend the day with you guys! Hopefully we’ll meet up again!
