Driving Directions:
Via Rt 93 from southern NH:
Take Rt. 93 North thru the Franconia Notch.
After passing Cannon Mountain Ski area, exit onto Rt 3 towards Twin Mountain. Take Rt 3 to the traffic light in Twin Mountain. At traffic light, turn right onto Rt 302. Take 302—pass Bretton Woods Ski area (on your right) and Mt. Washington Hotel (on your left). Continue on 302 until you reach AMC Highland Center (on your right). Immediately after Highland Center, come to the Crawford Depot railroad station (on your right). There is parking at the Depot as well as off 302.
If driving from North Conway/Bartlett, take Rt 302 up thru the Crawford Notch. At the top of the Notch, Crawford Depot will be on the left.
The trailhead for the Avalon Trail is across the RR tracks behind the depot.
Hiking Route & Info:
Hike leaves at 8:00 AM. from trailhead parking area.
We will hike to Mt. Tom summit via the Avalon Trail, A-Z trail, and the Mt. Tom Spur. Round-trip mileage for this route is 5.8 miles.
We are going to be packing our 25-30′ pole along with some extra guy lines, anchor stakes, etc. Should be a good challenge!
