I know Monadnock isn’t a 4,000 footer but it is visited by lots of people and yesterday was no exception. Our crew of 6 hiked up and had the flag up by 11:45. It was taken down at 2. I took 1″ grey PVC pipe and inserted it into 1.25″ grey PVC pipe for a strong yet flexible pole. On top of that we had a tent pole that was duct taped in place. My greatest gratification was seeing several members of a National Guard unit that was up there on a hike walk up to the flag pole before they left just to touch it. I had printed off the history page from this website and attached it to the pole. Many people read it.
