This is the second year that Troop 47 will fly a flag at this event–for the heroes and the survivors.
We will make our way up the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail from the Cog base starting around 7:30 or so, straight up to the Lakes of the Clouds AMC hut. Depending on how much oxygen the adult leaders need along the way, we should make it in plenty of time.
From the hut it’s a quick hike up to Monroe along the Crawford Path. The scouts will assemble our PVC flagpole and we’ll set up our visitor’s logbook and don our class B uniforms.
We’ll fly the flag from 12 to 2. From there, we’ll spend our afternoon exploring near the hut, and undoubtedly there will be some brave souls who will test the cold waters of the lake!
We’ll stay at Lakes overnight, feasting on a great dinner and mystery dessert.
Shortly after breakfast ,(and the requisite blanket-folding demo), we plan to summit Washington, weather permitting, via the Crawford Path. The summit victory photos are a given!
From there we’ll descend via Gulfside Trail to Jewell Trail, and our adventure will be complete.
For now.
