Hi Everyone,
We’re now in our 15th year of this event (the first year it was more of a gesture, less an event) and we’ve noticed some interesting trends. First and foremost this is a memorial event. Just as a reminder, Merriam-Webster defines this as,
“something (such as a monument or ceremony) that honors a person who has died or serves as a reminder of an event in which many people died.”
We’d really like people to remember that we’ve created an event in which we’re gathering to pay respect to the thousands of people who have perished as well as their friends and families who have dealt with the aftermath. We do so by climbing the most beautiful mountains in the world (IMHO) and displaying a flag as our symbol of remembrance. What this event isn’t is a contest to see who can register for their favorite mountain first.
As we get closer to our memorial event this year, please remember why we’re here.
Thanks, I’m looking forward to another amazing year!
Chris
