I drove up from Arlington VA the night before and got a late start at the trail head at the hairpin curve. Fortunately, as I was heading up to the summit, I encountered a couple that had posted a flag at noon and provided confirmation photos to the gallery. I greatly appreciated their backup. I managed to get the flag posted by 1230 with the assistance of three hikers who had traversed the ridge from North Hancock. I had 19 folks visit the summit between 1230 and 2pm. Most had some familiarity with the Flags on the 48. Visibility was non-existent from the top although I thought I heard the UH60 fly-over probably over Franconia Ridge. It was an honor to share in this observance.
