Route will be up Twinway from the Zealand Falls Hut. The trip from the hut o the summit of Zealand is approximately a 1700 foot climb over 3ish miles with a book time of around 2.5 hours. Plan to meet at the hut at 8:30 am and leave by 8:45 am.I am staying 9/10 at the hut in order to enjoy the notch and some scenery along the falls, Ethan Pond and surrounding area.
Note, the trip to Zealand Falls Hut using Zealand Trail is an additional 2.8 miles and 650 feet of climb and books at just under 2 hours.
Total 1 way for this peak is just under 6 miles. So could be a near 12 miles day.
The pole is ready and has flown on several peaks in the past with success – Pierce, Jackson, South Hancock, North Kinsman, etc. It is light-weigh PVC with aluminum tube inner and should be sufficient. In the past others have brought small flags to put around the area, which is nice. Others have brought snacks and beverages to share.
My hands do not work great, so if someone who can tie knots is coming that is a great benefit!!!
