Sorry about the keyboards. SOmeone described as “squeezing seals”
Well it wasn’t quite THAT bad, music is music, but it did have a “unique” quality. 😉
in reply to: Thank you! #53133Great to meet, hike and socialize with you and Peter, Gram !
Could someone post a list of all “known” campers and visitors at the KOA ? I was shaking hands faster than I could commit everyone’s name and face to memory !
If anyone needs to touch base after 2pm today my cells are 203-589-6836 and 203-417-1006.
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀I’m still at work, but will be leaving soon.
KOA tonight by 6:30 or so…
Summit Jackson tomorrow by 11:30 or so… :flag: :flag: :flag:
Back to KOA Saturday night…
Chance of thunderstorms later in the day may force a hasty retreat, but it looks okay until about 2 or 3.

They love having us, and we love being there
I have stayed there twice, at last year’s Flag event and then again during the summer. Both times they were helpfull and friendly. However, at last year’s flag event they seemed festive. It made check in a pleasure.
Where are you staying this year ?
in reply to: Post Gathering at KOA – what to bring? #53073I just spoke to the nice lady at the KOA and she’s asking that people visiting should park and check-in at the office and say they are with the “Flags” group. Quiet time is 11pm so we should definately respect that and maybe even plan on 10pm or so. We may have friends visiting us, so I was asking for me, and so I let her know that one of the Flags coordinators may be speaking to her as well.
I think I’ll be raising it. My flag pole is going TO KICK BUTT !!! Height will be about 25′ but “Paradox” is bringing the flag,
a 6×10 on Saturday, so I’ll have to practice with someone else’s on friday.
( 😡 no rude pole comments please. 😉 )What time are you getting to the KOA ?
in reply to: Post Gathering at KOA – what to bring? #53070I’m sure there’ll be plenty of grills, you can definately use part of mine. Someone should call the KOA to find out how they want to handle visitors.
in reply to: Flag Pole Ideas #48653Last Minute Idea:
Home Depot has in their paint dept. an extendable pole for painting high spots. the pole costs about $40 and extends to 23′, very stable and an easy solution for anyone looking.
in reply to: Pre/POST Gathering #52544Broken Branch KOA is going to be HOPPING, get it…HOPS !!! Let’s hop, no hope we can keep calm friday so we complete our hikes properly on Saturday. See you all there.

We plan to leave the KOA at around 8am. I can fit 3 more people in the truck if anyone wants to car-pool.
If there’s a photo being taken somewhere we can leave earlier, but that complicates things a bit.Okay, Paradox properly pointed out it’s probably almost an hour from the KOA to the trail head, so I plan to leave the KOA earlier, maybe 7am. If anyone wants to car pool from the KOA let me know, otherwise me and mine and Paradox and his (dogs) will probably head up together. Whatever works.

Chip, you mentioned you’d be worried about Outtabreath bringing the flag and maybe being late.
I’m not worried about Outtabreath, just about “Murphy” and his “Laws”… 😉
The more flags the better, as far as I’m concerned.:flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag:
Just emailed the following to the group:
My family is staying at the Broken Branch KOA friday night in a “Kabin”. I have a bronze Dodge Durango with a VFTT, ADK, and Proud American stickers. We plan to leave the KOA at around 8am. I can fit 3 more people in the truck if anyone wants to car-pool.
I plan to park at the trail head for Webster Cliff Trail / A.T. at Route 302, if no parking is available there then at the Highland Center and take the shuttle or walk. We plan to hike Mount Jackson by the Jackson Branch of the Webster-Jackson trail and be at the summit by 11 or so. We may do the longer loop out Webster Cliff Trail and Crawford Path on the way out. If this makes sense, cool. If somehow I’ve gotten my plan wrong, let me know. If you want a ride from and back to the KOA on Saturday, let me know. ThanksIf there’s a photo being taken somewhere we can leave earlier, but that complicates things a bit.
Realistically, I think we’ll all see each other on the trail and the summit. Let me know what you all want to try to do.
in reply to: We’re being interviewed by our local weekly. #52587I’ll bring an extra copy of the paper for who (whom ?) ever’d like to keep it.
in reply to: We’re being interviewed by our local weekly. #52582okay, we were front page, below the fold in this weeks paper. There was a nice picture of us and the first half of the article was good, but the second half petered-out. Good publicity for the event, though. I’ve already had a couple calls from friends asking about it. No picture in the link but this is the story; http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17014531&BRD=1656&PAG=461&dept_id=13278&rfi=6
in reply to: Pre-POST Event Gathering #52524We are booked there in a Kabin friday and saturday night. Will the flags fly at the KOA ?
