in reply to: Flags on the 48: The Documentary #50918
David,
I’m very excited that someone has seen the amazing nature of this event, it’s what drew a lot of us to do it in the first place. I don’t know anyone who wasn’t affected in one way or another by 9/11, but many people just send a check somewhere. This group is exceptional because of the dedication and willingness to continue to show how patriotic and giving we can be, even years after the tragedy. Take a poll of people around the country and see what folks have done recently to remember…This group of hikers, outdoors-persons (I’m soooo P.C.!) and webmasters have really shown an amazing cooperation that I for one am proud to be a part of. I look forward to seeing what you put down on film, and offer any help I can provide.

The CHRIS & CHRIS team rolled in with a two bedroom condo and provided spontanious comedic entertainment.
Sorry we forgot to bring the flat panel TV, I know you were all hoping to watch the SOX game!
in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50722The weather for hiking Saturday was excellent, but the skies opened up once we all got back to the Broken Branch. A good time was definitely had, beverages were consumed, some business was discussed and a daresay a few new friends made. Looking forward to the notes and new posts from the meeting! There were a lot of good ideas thrown around.

… hopefully the rain doesn’t spoil the weekend…
Is there an official decision as to whether or not we alter the plan due to rain? I’m hoping not but thought I’d bring it up since it’s a possibility.

in reply to: Highland Center update??? #50664Agree about the poll, but I think if you run it “for a few months” people will delay in responding. Post a poll, but offer a deadline, so it has some urgency. Or if we need to, post it in May, and leave it up for two weeks only.
My $.02, I’ve experienced this kind of phenomenon at work a lot!

Arriving:Sat
Leaving:Sunin reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50581I agree on the bugs, and getting out early rather than later will help us family guys with actually getting into the woods. I think May 21-22 is a good compromise, the weather is reasonable, the bugs haven’t hatched yet, and it’s not Memorial Day weekend.
I think picking a date as early as possible will assure the best participation, since calendars fill up very quickly during the warm weather…

in reply to: Time to pay the piper #50395I agree with Stephen that this is a lot of work for a few good people. I can reiterate my position, which is to add this site to my hosting plan (which allows the group to host the site free), and I’ll even pay the $15 to register the domain each year. For the math-challenged, that means that this site would operate completely free, notwithstanding the many hours of work the boys put in to managing it. No one would even notice a change, except Stephen, who likely gets the bill each year.
I’ve presented this offer to the admins of the site, in case anyone is interested, and they have taken it under advisement.
