Hey Z-man!
Should be fun again this year. Adams is a tough one, tougher than Willey for sure, but the views should be amazing. There are a couple guys who will likely take off much faster than I want to go, so we can just let them go.
I’ll see what I can do about waypoints for the GPS, I need to reinstall Topo. I’ve been meaning to do that anyway and this is a good motivator.
Looking forward to it!
Thanks,
Chrisin reply to: Mt. Moosilauke #53792Frodo makes an excellent point. Even if MLaurence doesn’t join you, my “group” (it was me a one other person) took care of the peak and met about 75 other people at the summit. in reply to: Read off the Names #53815The idea has been brought up before, but a little differently when we talked about it. We thought having a list of victims at each summit would be cool, and I posted a link to a list on the Links page. It’s possible that we did talk about reading the names, but it was never implemented. You’re welcome to get a grassroots effort going, but I’m not sure we can gather an official request at this point, I’d like to see this added before the signups. However, my word is not law, so the Steering Committee can over rule me!

I would like to see though a total peaks covered counter.
This is done and is now showing up at the bottom of the Peaks page.
in reply to: 2007 Signup Stats #53707This information is now included at the bottom of the Peaks page as well.

2. The idea of a hiker “counter” was brought up. This would be attached to the “peaks” page and allow for everyone to see just how many persons have signed up for the event. I have since spoken with Chris and he mentioned this should not be to difficult to do.
The “participant counter” has proven to be a little tough to do accurately, only because some registrations are for “X and Y Johnson” which is two people but one registration. Same issue with the Scouts, if they sign up as Troop 123 then we have no idea how many people are actually participating. I will look into posting a “peaks covered” number and possibly a “peaks fully covered” (all ten spots filled) number as well.
in reply to: Problems Signing Up? #53659Mmmmmm, beer.
🙂

in reply to: Problems Signing Up? #53657Wow, two hours into it and there are only 14 peaks that don’t have some form of coverage. That’s impressive!
It looks like things are slowing down now, so any additional issues, please email us as indicated above and I’ll address things each evening.
:flag:in reply to: 2007 Planning Meeting #53634It’s a bit of a free for all at first, then it tapers off and peaks get picked up a little at a time until they’re all gone. Last year about 15-18 peaks went in the first hour.
in reply to: 2007 Planning Meeting #53625Great post dirt_girl, I’m sorry I missed it.
in reply to: Willl You be Attending the Planning Meeting? #53540I agree, except my wife invited 35 other people to join us and I’m not driving all those people up to the Broken Branch!
🙂in reply to: Willl You be Attending the Planning Meeting? #53538I’m sorry I won’t be able to make it. It’s my daughter’s fourth b-day party and I might not be allowed back into the house if I went this weekend.
:beer:in reply to: Ideas for 2007 FOT48 #53274Hi Feldmrschl,
We have talked about this suggestion a bunch, I even made it myself once or twice and at this point we’re pretty well set on keeping it the flags on the 48 🙂
The most compelling arguments so far are that we haven’t yet had all the peaks completely full (10 hikers in every group for all 48 peaks) and that last year it took right up to the last week before the event to get the last peak covered.
We wholeheartedly agree that peaks like Little Haystack and Hight (two of my favorites!) would look great with flags atop, so we encourage people to put flags there even if they’re not part of the official event (I may even do that this year vs. taking a peak myself). We may reconsider changing this in the future, but for now I think the subject is considered addressed.
