in reply to: After the Hike #54222
btw does the koa know we’re coming this year? and does anyone have any idea how many people might be there???
in reply to: Wooded Summits #54277that would be cool to see the flag over the trees again. we were able to spot it from flume a couple years ago. :flag:
Willey crew will be departing from the Willey House site ascending Kedron Flume trail at 7:30. We will have the flag pole sections to divide up between team members. We will also have a car spotted at the Ethan Pond trailhead just south of there for a return option.
If you would like to help carry pole sections please meet us before 7:30 at the Willey House site. Otherwise you’re more than welcome to choose another route and meet us at the summit. For those of you staying at the Woodstock KOA we will be leaving the campground at 6 am sharp.
See you all there!
in reply to: Good Hikes For Kids #54061I think crawford path may be more manageable if wet weather were to hit. carter-moriah wasn’t too bad, but I believe there were a couple tricky spots. We didn’t have any trouble with it a couple years ago, but the weather was dry. I know crawford path was fairly moderate the whole way. try http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/ for some great route summaries. Hope this helps.
in reply to: Good Hikes For Kids #54059You should see our team’s flag on Willey from either Jackson or Pierce. I think the views from either would be fantastic, and the hike up Jackson by Jackson-Webster trail I found a bit more difficult than Crawford Path up to Pierce. You should also see a few more flags from up there, Eisenhower, Monroe, maybe Field or Tom.
in reply to: Views For The Top #53761Garfield team will be at the KOA in Woodstock Friday and Saturday nights with some homebrews in hand. Willing to trade…

in reply to: Nice to see a couple familar names waiting.. #53660Well I was late for registration for 2004, thought I would be here on time this year.
in reply to: Weather report for FOT48 #53592I actually just travelled to the future and back and it’ll be sunny with winds 15-25mph all weekend and a high of 75 both days.
in reply to: Flags on the 46 ? #53301Two separate groups is what I was referring to. I had made the suggestion to expand FOT48 but the creators convinced me that it would be great to have more coverage on other peaks but that it wouldn’t be an official part of the FOT48, that it would have to be a separately established memorial hike. Mind you, I’m all for it, I think it’s a great idea to have a NYFOT46 or something similar.
in reply to: Flags on the 46 ? #53299It sounds like a great idea, but I know what you’re suggesting could only come as a separate memorial hike apart from the “Flags on the 48”.
in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52648I’ve seen the same forecast. I’m not too concerned because any thunderstorm in the area will most likely be short-lived, so we’ll just wait off the summit for it to clear.
