Sounds like your troop is well prepared. Good luck this year and I’m looking forward to reading your trip report and seeing your pictures.
I figured that 7am wouldn’t work for some of the group and I apologize for that, however I’m planning on having the flag flying by noon and most of the group will need the extra time. Meeting at the summit will be just fine, even if it’s after 12. Remember we still need help taking the flag down and carrying the pole sections down as well. See you at the campground too!! 16 days to go.
mtnmagic, we’ll have plenty to “taste-test”. how’s a few gallons sound??? yes i’ll be travelling from springfield area (massachusetts) possibly with a couple coworkers from the same area.
We will be staying at the KOA in Woodstock for two nights, Friday and Saturday. We’ll be starting from Lincoln Woods and taking the Osseo trail up. Book time is 4 hours 25 minutes, and to be on the safe side many of us will start at 7am. We’ll likely end up going over Liberty and down Liberty Springs trail to a spotted vehicle. Some may choose to retrace our ascent route for the descent. Anyone wishing to join us would be great, otherwise we would simply meet at the summit by 11:45 (or on the trail…just look for the pole sections sticking out of our packs).
in reply to: Flags Sign-ups Day 1 #52424I did receive an automatic email which I will share with the team. The signup went very smoothly and thanks to Chris for all his work. Looks like all the peaks will be covered within a couple days.
in reply to: Sign Ups 2006 #52174i’ll start by saying that i felt very fortunate having been coordinator for moriah last year, and thanks to those who joined me i really felt that we were quite a team.
i think the signup for last year was a huge improvement and felt that we all worked together well. silentcal, smitty77, judging by how things went last year i agree the biggest issue should be the on-call status, perhaps having a large group ready to take any peak at the last minute…or simply join a current group on an existing peak.
smitty, great idea to have a coordinator choose secondary peaks. if any coordinator is with a group camping in the carters, for instance, it wouldn’t be too much trouble to cover any one of 5 or 6 peaks…likewise in other areas.
in reply to: Middle Carter Trip Report #51936Well it’s good to hear from someone on a nearby moutain. Sounds like you had a great hike, congratulations.
in reply to: An e-mail from an observer #51867Talk like this only further drives me to participate for years to come. It is a memorial for the victims, all victims, not just Americans. See you all next year. Peace.
in reply to: I can’t believe this is happening! #51593agreed! hope to hear that everything goes well. good luck to all on their hike sunday.
in reply to: Where is everyone staying??? #51295Most if not all of the Moriah team will be camping at Dolly Copp just north of Pinkham Notch on rt. 16. Trekman has the site number.
