I think a prompt pretty please to Ms. Alpinista would be in order?!
…and leave thoes cute little hampsters out of this… they have enough to do keeping your computer powered up!!
in reply to: We’re being interviewed by our local weekly. #52586Fabulous press!!
Thanks to you and your family for being a part of this event and helping to spread the word.
I hope you saved the article!? One day it will be FOT48 memorabilia, archival stuff even…
:flag:Jay – Issues or no… please enter your state? You are one of maybe three people living in the entire state of RI!
A zero just looks so pathetic, come on?
😕 😀
TrekMan – that must be some kind of breakfast for Dirt to travel to CT for! I don’t think backtracking for breakfast counts as actual miles. However, you travel a respectable distance, grasshoppers.
😮 😀
Chris – I think the folks from Oregon and Washington would take the mileage record… the challenge is them getting here!!! The mileage would be as the crows fly, of course?
😉Humm? I don’t see anyone registered on the survey as being from RI.??
😕
JayTrek, care to play along?dirt_girl
This is beautiful, an astute piece of the human soul.
Well written, Puck!
Two years later it moved me as if I was reading it for the very first time.Thank you.

in reply to: 2007 signups #52668I am passionately against any pre-registration or peak reservation other than what was currently established prior to this years event!
Except, I would completely eliminate the reservation of peaks for Boy Scouts also.
The “handicapped accessible” peaks is the only resevation that makes sense and seems justified!
People that are intent on hiking, being a PC or just claiming a peak for their group are sitting at the keyboard, poised, ready to strike the submit button at the precise time registration begins!!!
I also feel if members want to voice an opinion they have every opportunity to do so. It’s called a forum…I believe, for the most part, the 200 plus Event hikers are happy to have a steering committee take care of issues. People just want to hike with friends and family, be supportive of this event and show a solidarity of patriotisim and compassion for the loss of so many human beings. The idea of creating a non-profit, voting, pre registering, peak reserving, formal event ( 😮 ) would contaminate, if not completely ruin, the grass root, first come first serve, undeniably patriotic and benevolent nature of this memorial.
I am against any type of lottery!!
I am against any type of pre registration!!
I am against any type of peak reservation!! :angry:Now… do you want me to tell you how I really feel? 😀

in reply to: FREE flag pole #52356The same size poles were coupled together, the ones of different diameters were bolted through…. and then there is the duct tape. All the poles were PVC except for the very top poles, we used old tent poles.
😆
My brother and Chuck helped me figure it out for packability (about 13 pounds altogether), height (36 feet, 12 feet above tree top) and assembly (the funny part). It worked great in the driveway, the true test at the summit proved to be quite comical and after some minor adjustments quite functional!
I don’t know of a commercial pole that will reach the height we did without significantly more weight.
Creating a pole set up that will work for your peak is a challenge that is usually good for a few belly laughs. I highly recommend it!!

Absolutely true SherpaJohn. That sure seems to be proving true for the flags event too.
:flag:Hey? Isn’t Ken (Cops on Top?) traveling from NY also?
He may be the only competition, thus far, for Tom and Laurie’s record setting mileage.
😮Good thing MA. was added to the list! 💡
Besides the fact that it is part of New England… 🙄
…it seems to be the starting point for many of the FOT48 hikers. :flag:Tom and Laurie… hats off to you, I think you may be the ones with the longest trip… so far. 😉
in reply to: 2007 signups #52663I am passionately against any type of lottery, pre registration or reserving peaks for any reason!!!
Other than peaks that have been established for the handicapped and scouts.
💡
I am all in favour of people hiking the highest peaks in their home states on the same day as the 9/11 Memorial Hike! 😀Sharing these hikes on this site or maybe a sister site?
:flag:Thanks for using your super powers MichaelJ. I’ll bet you have a cape in your closet!
I can’t believe I completely spaced the fact that MA is part of NE?!!?? My bad, sorry. 😳
in reply to: Postings on other boards #52714Wow, you are fast Pepsi! Thanks! 😀
I was just poking around looking for more info and doing the math… 🙄
in reply to: Postings on other boards #52712Way to go Tom! :flag:

Cal is on to something… 💡
