Hi all,
I will be bringing a small poster with pictures of past years’ FOT48 and a short explanation of the event. It’s one I have used before and it seems to be well received. My husband and I are planning on leaving at 8:30 as we are slow hikers. So say “hi” when you pass us on the trail!
David, it will be nice to see you Plymouth folks again.

in reply to: I need to bow out #54593Our deepest sympathy goes out to you.
I urge everyone to take a moment on Saturday between 12 and 2 to remember Silent Cal and his family. May you somehow find the strength to get through this terrible time.
in reply to: Thanks to the Osceola Crew! #54366Great job, David, on your first flag rig!
Peter and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Your Plymouth, MA group was great. You should be proud of all the kids – very respectful – and no whining! It sure did seem like a long walk down.
A nice bonus of Flags day is the 2 hours spent chatting at the top, something hikers don’t often do. Enjoyed speaking with Willoughby (VFTT)- good luck pinning down the true summit of Osceola.
Best regards to all who joined us on Osceola, and see you on the trails!
David and Jo –
It sounds like you’re all set with 2 great possibilities for flags to fly.We plan on driving up from the Boston area Sat. AM and will try and be on the trail by 8:45. We tend to be “book time” hikers, but want to plan on a little extra time.
See you on the trail or at the top!

It was a pleasure meeting the Fool Scouts – hope we meet on the trail some day under less somber circumstances than a 9/11 memorial.
McRat’s rig was awesome – great job – wish we’d had a little more wind to display the flag. My son-in-law saw the flag with a telescope from the Waterville Vally floor.
I posted up some photos, didn’t have a good one of the Fool Scouts all together – hopefully you do.
All in all, a great memorial.
We’re heading up Friday AM, staying in Waterville Valley Fri and Sat nights.
So let us know tomorrow – Thurs – if you need any help in carrying stuff and we can make a plan.
Good luck with the rigging. Some of us did Cannon last year – the first year we were responsible for the flag. It was a tad windy on top of Cannon. The pole bent, but held!
Scoutmaster – sorry to hear of your injury, hope it’s short-lived!
McRat – our group of 5 is set to go! I’ve made a poster with the FOT48 logo, mission statement, and pics of prior events that I will bring. Let us know if you need help in any other way.
Can you tell us what time you will be raising the flag? We want to be sure to be there by that time.
Hmmmm…. Hiking with Fools? Our group should fit right in!
Let us know what time you will starting your hike, and what time you will be raising the flag. We are 5 adults and a 4 year old ( maybe!).
As we have done in previous years, we’ll probably put together a poster for the event – as that’s the way we are.
Glad to see others saw the cargo jets! We were on Cannon, they came around from the west, circled Cannon below us, and headed south through Franconia Notch.
Reading the TR from Lafayette, I don’t think they saw them. Check Cannon’s gallery for a pic of one goung thru the Notch.
in reply to: Team B+B+B+J on Lafayette #53912You had a really big flag – we were impressed over on Cannon! Any chance you saw ours?
