Since you locked it accidentlly, instead of a day, how about giving it a whole week for the folks to vote.

Good point. I locked it on Monday, so we’ll give it to Saturday instead of Thursday. Fair enough?

I’m a big dummy. I set this poll to run for 14 days and I had spaced out and thought it was 7. 😳 I’m unlocking it so others can vote. Tomorrow’s the last day.

The locals have always said that 90% of the insects are gone when there are 3 or more days of 90 degree weather. That’s why they are not so bad by July 4.

How is the bug situation, typically, by the June 26 timeframe? I’ve back country camped on the July 4th weekend as well as the middle of June. Load me up with bug dope and I’m fine. It takes a while to acclimate, but I sort of get used to them…

Should we send a mass- email to all the participants to get that vote as well or limit it to those on the boards?

I would like to avoid the mass Email thing. The peak sign-up process didn’t include an option to receive Emails or not. Some folks are very sensitive to that and I would like to avoid having anyone complain or fault AZ for violating their privacy. Due to the nature of the event, that’s not likely to happen, but it only takes one “bad apple”. Perhaps on this year’s sign-up we can include an opt-in for Email notices.

With notifying everybody, we also run the risk of creating a large “event” out of what really should be a small gathering to brainstorm. I think the folks that frequent this forum would suffice for a planning get-together. We also don’t want to overrun a campground or hut with say a hundred people as that may also paint the event in a bad light. It also detracts from one premise behind this whole thing; its “grassroots” nature. Just my opinion…

                  Here’s the date poll:

                  http://forums.alpinezone.com/viewtopic.php?t=1049

I’ll create another for location. These are the options suggested here so far:

                  Ammonoosuc Campground
                  Carter Hut
                  Fransted Family Campground
                  Hancock Campground
Lafayette Place Campground (June dates only?)
                  Lonesome Lake Hut
                  Tripoli Road

Jigger Johnson (open in May?) also has some large sites, but it’s closer to Conway than Lincoln. Any other nominations?

I suggest that Greg set up an automated poll and we go with the majority.

Okay, so far we have 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 6/26. Any other suggested dates? I’ll fire up a poll tomorrow so nominate your date of choice now.

Why not met for a brainstorming night and we all leave early to visit mom?!

Remember Magic, some folks will need to travel a fair distance. It’s at least a 4 1/2 hour ride for me to the Kanc. Mom’s Day weekend will not work for me. It was already suggested to poll this out. Let’s pick a few dates and have a poll. I nominate 6/26.

I added a new flag smiley to the forums. You can put it in you posts with this code:

Are you posting to keep “one” post ahead of MichaelJ? 😉

Doh! I never even noticed that! I must be spending way too much time on the computer!

You just did it again…. 😛

What Michael said. Also, take a look at the official Flags on the 48 Web site (which we should definitely jazz up for next year…):

Suggestion: How about someone peruse the posts in this thread from the past few weeks and start new threads based on individual topics (i.e. planning gathering, peak coordinators, publicity, etc.). This one’s turning into an unwieldy monster! 🙂

                              Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

In addition, we should also come up with an automated way to update the peaks list. The Email route Stephen and I used this year was not that efficient. Stephen was very good at getting me updates, but it took me hours, sometimes a day, to get it posted. An automated system is needed next year. Add another to the list! 🙂
