I assume you’re not bringing the little one?
Nope. Just me, and perhaps my friend Joe (Stephen knows him coincidentally).
I think the items Stephen suggested for discussion are perfect. The value of just shaking hands and meeting some of you finally will help solidify the future planning. Much of it will be better suited online anyway.
So…who else is up for Franc Loop? 😉 And looks like I should bring plenty of Heinekens (and the guitar?)…

in reply to: Agenda for get-together #49306I think 5 PM is fine. I hope to do the Franconia Loop Saturday. I’m aiming to get to the trailhead at 9 AM and expect to be done by 3 PM which will give me 90 minutes to get to Hancock and set up before a 5 PM meeting. Sounds reasonable to me. After getting up at 4 AM and hiking Franconia Ridge, I’ll probably be ready to crash by 10 PM, but I think a number of hours in front of the campfire would suffice to discuss what’s been outlined here. Just MO.
in reply to: Planning Meeting Registrations now open! #49398I’m in. I’ll be arriving Saturday morning and hope to get in a Franc Loop hike on Saturday. I may also do a short hike early Sunday morning before leaving late morning. I’ll be bringing my small backpacking tent so if I can squeeze in at an existing campsite, that’d be great!
in reply to: Press Release List #49452Not sure how effective this is, but:
in reply to: Member Rankings #49438in reply to: Member Rankings #49433How about I decrease the ranks to 4 flags and ditch the Grand Ol’ Poster? Would make more sense with your names…

I’ll be happy to change the names if better ones are suggested. Most of these came as off the cuff, as it were.
At worst, I can eliminate the rank name and just use the image.
You do need to assign a name to the rank, but you could always hack the PHP to not display it. This would be my suggestion. If you decide to do this Stephen, just comment out this code in viewtopic_body.tpl:
{postrow.POSTER_RANK}
and this code in profile_view_body.tpl:

A BIG thank you to Greg at Alpinezone whose time and effort and webspace was the major catalyst in creating this timeless endavour to those who were lost on 9/11 :flag:
You’re more than welcome. The separation from AlpineZone should be considered an evolution for the FOT48 event. It’s grown to the point where it should really exist as its own entity. I will still be playing a part in the memorial, mostly in a Webmaster capacity as well as a participant.
in reply to: Flags on the 48 Web site Overhaul #49409Great feedback, SilentCal. Thanks.
Another related item that comes to mind is the adoption of an official logo to be used on any future patches, etc. I can work on something for that too along with the site redesign so feel free to comment on that as well.
in reply to: FOT48 Planning Get-together Location #49285Yup. Hancock Campground, it is. Pick your date here:

How about a quick newsletter so all will know and can vote!
Probably unnecessary for the planning gathering. There are almost 1,500 subscribers so this could lead to a huge turnout just for the planning event, which I still feel should include just the really enthusiastic folks that visit here. This, however, is a great idea to help spread the word about participating in the event once we launch it!

Can I suggest we re-poll with the top two (or 4, if the tie still remains), since there were so many options? The same with the location?
Not sure why this would be necessary. Please elaborate.
