in reply to: Time for a press release #48845
Greetings,
My plan for this year is to include the preview as part of my column for Sept. 5, at the very least. I’d like to cover it, too, but I’m at the mercy of other planners for that part.
So at least The Telegraph will have the preview type news… I couldn’t speak for my colleagues/competitors at other newspapers, but I do know that the best way to ensure the press release hits the right desk is to send it to these addresses:
writeus@theunionleader.com
mprowland@fosters.com
news@keenesentinel.com
jdeconto@seacoastonline.com
news@citizen.com
DailySun@mountwashingtonvalley.com
berlinreporter@salmonpress.com
etimes@cyberportal.net
KarenHLadd@newsandsentinel.net
news@cmonitor.com
There’s others, of course, and if you want to surf a little, here’s a place that has links to everybody: http://www.usnpl.com/nhnews.html
Non-newspapers? Uh, beats me.

in reply to: How do we promote this event? #48590Yes, indeed. Cheers!
in reply to: How do we promote this event? #48588Oh yes, most assuredly. I plan to check the peak list Thursday before we go to press, so the info in the column will be just a few hours old.
Also, I will certainly point out, as I always do when people ask me about hiking in the Whites, that the mountains, inexperience, a combination of both, or just bad luck can kill you.in reply to: How do we promote this event? #48586Thank you fo the kind welcome, Greg.
I write for The Telegraph, which serves Nashua and towns from the Mascenic to Pelham/Windham and on up to Bedford. Obviously we also cover statewide news.
My plan is to file a column for Friday’s edition that basically lets readers know about the event – the wheres, whys and such – and shows them an example of a mountain they could climb (one I climbed, by no coincidence) if so inclined, along with general hiking stuff.
Much of my work time is spoken for, so I’m not certain about coverage on the day itself, but whatever I do won’t involve helicopters or tracked vehicles.in reply to: How do we promote this event? #48584Greetings,
I am planning to write a column about Flags on the 48, but postings here are equivocal about the general attitude about publicity.
I’d like to chat with a hiker(s) planning to do one of the 48 and also generally inquire whether it would be OK to mention the mountains that aren’t yet spoken for in my column…
Cheers, and hope to chat with one or more of you soon. -
