How does the Mt. Washington thing usually work? I assume that putting the flag at the “actual” peak is not advised. Where should one set up?
I contacted last year’s Washington hiker, and here’s what she did. Hopefully this will give you some ideas:
When we first arrived at about 11:30, we went toward the Crawford Path and flew the flag towards the Southern Presis. Just before noon, I went to the summit and made a little announcement about the event and asked that everyone hold off and let us fly the flag at the summit at noon, which we did. We then went to the platform and held it aloft toward the Northern Presis and the C-M range.
in reply to: How did you learn of Flags on the 48? #52896All the way back. I would have been on Liberty had I not already had a multi-day excursion into the Great Gulf planned that weekend with a friend.
I did! I posted a link to it to suck it off my website and get it onto the Fot48 site. Did nobody do that? It had the slight flaw of saying “3 days” instead of “4 days” in the history but since I didn’t mention exact dates I decided to not worry about redoing the whole thing just to fix that. 🙂

in reply to: Contacting peak coodinators #52431Brownie – did someone get back to you on this via private message, or are you still waiting?
in reply to: Postings on other boards #52715And if you’re curious, the NE115 used to be the NE111, during one of the re-surveys 4 peaks were added (like when the NH46 became the NH48).
How did MA get relegated to “Other” ??? 🙄
I used my powers of moderation for good, not evil, and added MA to the poll!
It’s around 120 miles for me.
in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52635Ya know, the only time I ever hiked with Jen it rained! And later you’d left, so when I hiked out by myself it was dry and nice.
Hmm…
in reply to: Team B&B on Garfield #52469Rig that thing to a camera and take pictures – I’ll hopefully be shooting my 500mm reflector from up on Franconia Ridge and can pick all of you out!
in reply to: We’re being interviewed by our local weekly. #52578For the first question, I can’t think of anything. We’ve got the history, the forums, the photo galleries … all here.
Oh, except the A-10 video. We have a link to it, but it’s served off someone else’s site.
Keep in mind that if any reporter wants to use an image out of the galleries we’ll have to contact the original photographer for permission.
in reply to: Pre-POST Event Gathering #52529I’m a suburban apartment dweller – my only option to get wood is $4/bundle at the grocery store. 🙁
Una_dogger and I will be there Friday and Saturday night.
