in reply to: Thank You mail #51919
Tnx Jay!
I’ve been swamped lately and am only just barely catching up now.
in reply to: Zealand… a long trip… a long report #51828Awesome. Simple and awesome.
Unfortunately, that link always goes to the current day’s front page. Did anyone actually snarf down the article while it was there? I never had a chance…
Thanks for your trip report, Jen!
And since you were wondering, I’ll quote Dr. Dasypodidae’s trip report from VFTT:
But, alas, that last five miles took us just long enough to see the flag come down as we walked across the Camel Trail, meeting our compatriots, along with friend KK, on their way down to Lakes Hut.
Again, a ton of thanks to you and your fellow hikers for your participation this year – I’m glad Fot48 came to mean as much to you as to the rest of us.
in reply to: Summit Journals #51784The Garfield journal from 2004 is lost somewhere in my apartment. I suck. 🙁
Okay, flipping through my extra photos I think I see which one that would be, though looking down on it, instead of up, the pointy bits are in different places.
The camera doesn’t show it, but unfortunately there was a “busy” background in that behind what I think is the summit was another ridge line, so if the flag was sticking up it could easily have gotten its detail lost.
in reply to: Early Report on the Documentary #51787David,
If there are any pictures in the gallery that you’d like to use, the administrators have the power to look at who uploaded any given picture so you can contact them for rights as necessary. So just let Stephen or Chris know in a PM which pictures to check.
Oh, Stephen & Chris … that okay with you? 😀
Yeah, I’ve heard a rumor you had a big flag up on Moriah.
😀I couldn’t spy it from Jefferson with the camera, nor with binoculars, but to be honest, I don’t know which bump along the ridge, as seen from Jefferson, is the actual Moriah summit. But moreso, I think the angle we were at relative to the wind would have made it very difficult for me to see your flag – it would have been too thin from my point of view.
Wonderful story – I still have to view the pics later (I’m at work right now). Thanks again for your terrific participation!
Have you added your pics into our Gallery yet (again, I can’t look while here at work) If not, we’d really appreciate it so that we have our own permanent copies of everything. It doesn’t have to be your entire trip, but we’d like the actual summit shots. 🙂
in reply to: Washington #51776Wonderful! I’m glad you were able to participate in your own way. Thanks for posting your story and photos!
🙂in reply to: new member… so glad I found this site #51686Patricia,
Pictures are being posted by folks in the Gallery as they get back to their computers. Keep an eye out in the 2005 gallery as it fills up.
My sympathies on your loss 4 years ago; we will all look forward to your participation next year.
