I *think* we’re all set because it’s after the busy season. Jay – you spoke to them, are we all clear on that?
Jay – also – I’ve been mentioning to people to drop by, but totally forgot about the whole “day use fee” thing. Are people going to have to pay $5 to visit us or is that all set? I’d rather just pony up a set amount out of my own pocket to them and have visitors not need to worry. Especially if they’re only stopping by for 10 minutes.
Okay, I made up the history/mission statement in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format, ready-to-print as a full page flyer. I made a few very slight wording changes because it flowed a little better when trying to squeeze it all onto the page (and one sentence felt very awkward). Feel free to download it and print it out for your peak. In the past, I’ve always printed and then laminated it, punched a hole in the corner, and tied it to a 6′ cord off one of the guy lines.
In fact … I will have a limited number (probably 15) of these, laminated, available at the KOA on Saturday evening. One per peak, please.
Click here to download, 2MB in size. This is hosted on the Fot48 server now so no worries about downloading it often.
Must … sleep … now …

Yes, what was printed out in previous years became the “History” page this year.
Does it look okay on paper?
in reply to: Last one to respond… #51643These Patriots are a whole new time. I have no expectations whatever.
I am counting the hours to the weekend and finding I don’t have enough.
Your wife needs to post Wildcat D to the Trips & Routes Forum.
🙂in reply to: Officially "Unofficial" Post Trip Libations #51353After you finish.
🙂No, seriously, I would expect people to start straggling in around 4:30 or 5pm, since most peaks will take at least 2 hours to descend plus drive time.
How late they stay is all up them.
in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51193Gotcha – fair enough. I’m not one for getting up godawful early to drive to a trailhead, either. It’s probably only 30-45 minutes to Crawford Notch from the KOA, though.
Check out Dry River Campground as well.
And do at least stop by the KOA in the evening to say hello!
in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51191Do you know about our plans to be at the KOA in Woodstock on Saturday night? See this thread.
in reply to: Film Crews on Sunday #51617Awesome!
I hope to be taking a ton of digital stills. Though I don’t know which peak I’ll be on yet, it looks like I may run into your crews since all the peaks I was thinking of doing are covered by you. 🙂
in reply to: KOA Broken Branch Sat 9/10 #51422Actually, it’s a weather tower owned by the company trying to put a wind farm up there. At least, the former tower that fell was. See this thread on VFTT, as well as in particular the second-page post from “WindFarmer”.
Always a kick to have my name seen in a register – I hope you enjoyed Maine!!!
in reply to: KOA Broken Branch Sat 9/10 #51420Incidentally, Periwinkle called the KOA today to arrange a cabin (her husband had surgery and can’t sleep on the ground) and the person she talked to had no idea we were coming. I told Peri that Jay had spoken to Darlene and that we should be expected. She has to call back tomorrow and will make sure all is set and that it was just a false alarm.
in reply to: KOA Broken Branch Sat 9/10 #51418What? Who’ll tend the fire???
We’ll miss you, Magic!
in reply to: Need some help #51482The issue is moot – the “48after40” club and BillT have signed up for S. Carter! Woo-hoo! Thanks folks, whoever you are.
:flag:It looks like everyone’s off the hook. Hockeycrew, you can pick any peak you’d like to be on as not-a-coordinator. 😉
