in reply to: Interviews for Documentary #50959
I’m still catching up from being away on vacation; I haven’t even looked at my July calendar yet. Gimme a few more days to get through things…
in reply to: Flyer design #50932use either “raised” or “flown” but wouldn’t use both
I just hate repeating words. 😀
Lemme give it a day or two to forget what I wrote, then I’ll re-read it.
After that, the little cards, then figuring out how to get this stuff to people.in reply to: Flyer design #50928Narf. Okay, try the 459KB .JPG file instead. It won’t be as easy to read because it’s going to appear as a very large picture in your browser, but if you can zoom out it will be fine.
in reply to: Mini Meeting of Sorts? #50877Sounds great to me – I’ve never climbed Great Blue. Though if it’s any time after mid-August I’ll be away on vacation.
in reply to: Sunday, September 11, 2005 #50622Owl’s Head, Isolation, and West Bond all make for excellent two-day hikes, with overnight campsites nearby. OH means going off into the woods at the base of the slide or up along the summit ridge line to make a campsite, West Bond means staying at Guyot in the shelter or on a tent platform, and Isolation means one of several different choices of designated backcountry tentsite.
in reply to: Grandfathered Peaks #50867I think that someone who is that much dedicated to the event, and the event’s well-being, is responsible enough to choose to continue to take the peak, or to know if the time comes when to give it up for the greater good. So I’m okay with it.
But …
If we get complaints about peaks already being taken, we will need to revisit this issue.
in reply to: Thank You! #50847No more #@$%! Billy Joel!
👿
(cranks the Ozzy to clear his head)I wish I knew what smelled of smoke inside my car. That’s the latest mystery. All of this smoke smell is bringing back bad memories of the apartment fire two days after Fot48 ’02…
in reply to: Press release #50864One option is certainly just to grab it off the masthead of the web site at:
https://www.flagsonthe48.org/images/fot48_header.pngBut if there’s a higher-resolution version anywhere, I think we’ll both want it, because I will use it for the flyers.
in reply to: 2005 Planning Meeting Minutes #50865If anyone wishes to discuss any of the issues mentioned in these minutes, please begin a new post with the specific topic under the 2005 Planning Meeting forum. I’ve locked this one so that each issue can be discussed individually in its own thread.
Thanks! :flag:
in reply to: Updated FOT48 History #50785I suggest the following:
Three days after the attacks, several regular users of the AMC’s Internet bulletin board joined together and planned a hike for the following day, intent on raising the largest American flag they could find from the summit of Mt. Liberty.
and slight rewordings:
On September 15, 2001, these six hikers …
and
On September 14, 2002, and again on September 13, 2003, several hundred patriotic and impassioned hikers …
Take out the commas in the “This tribute to the sacrifice” sentence.
Who has a good “On September 11, 2005, the hiking community will again…” closer?
in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50720I had forgotten about that – yeah, that was very cool. Suddenly the sky went dark, this nasty bit blew through, and in 15 or so minutes it was dry and beautiful again.
in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50718I’ll be there late mid to late afternoon – see ya’ll then!!!
(and my tarp’s coming anyway; if we bring them, it makes certain it won’t rain)
:flag:in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50710Check out the “Flags Weekend FAQ” post in this topic. We’re looking to start the meeting on Saturday 6pm-ish around the campfire, though of course many of us will be there all weekend hiking and lazing around.
