      Very glad to read this!

This sure makes it much more attractive to those of us that live some distance away.

Yes, the caretakers at most shelters or tent platforms are there until Columbus day. Then it is cool days, cold nights and free.

How delightfully simple! I already see it will go so easy this year. Perfect!

We discussed this in length at the May 23 meeting. All agreed with frodo that we’re outdoors people who enjoyed the Broken Branch KOA very much and we planned to camp there Saturday night, Sept 10, feast, converse, meet old friends, and make new ones. We bring our own food & drink w/o having to wait in a crowded building. Nothing like the great outdoors, amble space at our own almost 2 acre “island”, great people and a campfire. It doesn’t get much better than this!

More details on our camping, hiking, and planning weekend can be found here.

Hi! The group, 21 of us, decided at the flags meeting on May 23 that the sign-up list will begin this Monday, July 11 at noon. And it’s starting out great two months in advance. We have 30 Boy Scouts already waiting to hike up to North and Middle Tripyramid and to Tecumseh. They will be listed before the rest of us this weekend when Stephen finishes the work. I’m looking forward to it!

More infomation on the meeting minutes can be found here.

I never knew one could donate every 56 days. I’ll now donate more than once a year. Thanks for the post.

Btw it was Bob & Geri who initally got us this wonderful site. Thank you B&G, it was the best one yet, a most productive weekend, and a location I vote to have a Flags planning meeting again.

I sure hear you on the smoke smell! Thank you all for your participation.

We started to arrive at 2pm on Friday afternoon, setting up camp, later having dinner, and in the evening enjoying the big campfire, courtesy of the firewood donated by SilentCal. During the day Saturday, the easy hike up to the summit of Mt Garfield, completed an hour under book time by our group, saw spectacular views of the Pemi Wilderness and far beyond.

Even two dogs within our group played most spiritedly all weekend at the campground and on the summit. Another dozen eager participants arrived to join us for the Saturday night planning discussion for the 2005 Flags on the 48 Event, now in our 4th year, to be launched on Sunday, September 11th.

SilentCal’s huge tarp keep the group dry as the rain fell and organized the meeting superbly. MichaelJ added a spare tarp and was keep busy writing the meeting minutes. Frodo and Chris brought the much needed firewood, which keep the group toasty warm. Vickie cooked us pounds of vegetables, and everyone else, 18 campers plus 3 visitors, joined various committees while contributing many very different and wonderful ideas.

Sunday morning’s rain convinced about half of the participants to eat at Peg’s Place for breakfast. Good fellowship was had by all throughout the weekend as we met old and made new friends. It was truly a circle of friends and camping as the layout of our weekend area was over an acre in an oval shape “Island”. I’m certain we will do this again. Thank you all for sharing and for the superb weekend!

Sure bring ’em. The best news is we won’t need ’em! I sure hear you about those weathermen. In fact I even remember the SDS. Ok, you’ll be there an hour earlier than the rest of us!

What excitement. Looking forward to it.

See you there at supper time, all my old friends !!!

The weekend weather looks super! We won’t need those roof tarps. Just wood for the 2 campfires. Great food, drink, and fellowship. Let the good times roll!!!
