BTDT ??? Inquiring minds want to know!
I certainly want to hike, and drink some Long Trail Ale at night around the campfire too. Looking forward to the entire weekend!
in reply to: Flags Weekend F.A.Q #50757Cal, don’t forget those house tarps; Puck your daughter will love it; Chris, please lotsa hardwood; Mike, yes, the bike; the rest will surely bring the best!
So to review just a little bit of what’s on the agenda, we’ve a whole weekend of brainstorming ideas for the FOT48 event, meet old and new friends, camp every night, hike every day, share laughter, try some special microbrews, play chess, sit around the campfire each evening, enjoy meaningful conversation, delight in food and most definitely swim deep in old fashioned fellowship. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
It doesn’t get any better than this!
in reply to: Flags Weekend F.A.Q #50752SilentCal, in a word, excellent!
Broken Branch c.g. is off exit 31, I-93 and just 2 miles south on route 175.
Agreed, what we need to bring is lots of ideas and more logs for the fire. Can’t wait to greet old and new friends. See you all there!
in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50708Great question Lisa,
I’m certain Silent Cal is right on it!
I believe we’re doing it as a group weekend!!
Magicin reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50703Oh, one more to the total. How easy to understand now, when you know. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Welch-Dickey is a lot of fun. I’ve done it several times w/ghostdog too. Super views, a nice 3 hour loop. Everyone loves it when the ledges are dry 😉
I’ll bet you go back and hike it again with Grace.
Happy Spring to all!
in reply to: 2005 Planning Weekend: May 21-22 #50701I’m right into Garfield on Saturday, or any other mtn, whatever the group decides. As long as the slabs aren’t too wet, I’m in for Welch-Dickey on Sunday,
add one more to my total.
Does that mean trail, redline, mtn, hike?
Glad Vickie will be there for the weekend. Got an e from Strider who’s on the AT in GA. Heavy rains down South. Chickety and Posterboy are in NC getting soaked too. Nothing to do but whiteblaze for 2200 miles.

About as decent as they come!

Thank you in advance for your help!
Pick a few good hikes and we can talk them up/post them.

Arriving: Friday
Leaving: Sundayin reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50591Excellent! It is so wonderful to know so soon in the year. I’m very happy we’ll have this KOA.
Thank you so very much Bob!
:beer:in reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50589Hi Bob,
If you have stayed there many times, you probably know the owners and vice-versa. Please do get in touch w/them and kindly ask if they can accommodate our group cause w/a non-profit camping status.
Yes, three state c.g. do have showers with washers and dryers too:
http://www.nhstateparks.org/ParksPages/ParksAtGlncAD.html.
I do like Dry River c.g. as one can have campfires until midnight. But it not as centrally located or family oriented with none of the bells and whistles any KOA has.
I like your idea of a motel also. After the discussion around the campfire one can drive and retire to their rooms instead of to their tents.
edit: If the above link doesn’t work for you try this one: http://www.nhstateparks.org/ParksPages/campgrndsHome.html Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Parks at a Glance” Link.
in reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50586Yes, that sounds about right, Cal. Great idea to send out notices. More input please.
The owners of the campground are going ask us to send our non-profit tax id #. Since we don’t have one the rates will be $28-$31 for 2. State c.g. are in the $16-$18 range w/up to 8 to split the site cost. Anyplace is cool to me, particularly one that has showers.
in reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50584The black flies hatch here May 10th give or take 2 days depending on the warmth/rains. South of the Notch, about 3 days ealier. The skeeta’s hatch about 2 weeks later. Pretty much the same every year. Geez I’ve been here a long time! We need a large smokey campfire to run off the buggers.
Their website, http://www.brokenbranchcampground.com/ does say it costs $9 for non-profits. Can we convince the owners? Has anyone actually contacted them? It is a great family place!
in reply to: Planning weekend 2005 #50574Another super weekend of hiking, camping, cooking, conversations, campfires, meeting new and old friends. You bet I’m in!
in reply to: Looking Back ….Moving Forward. #50568Very well stated and I agree.
I also feel that June weekend of camping, hiking, and talking over our agenda on the flags event was so rewarding, we should do again.
There’s more than 10 months to put the pieces together. How easy!
