in reply to: I Do Realize Cotton is bad for hiking #49859
I always wear cotton in the summer but never in the rain or during the winter. I change into a dry, sometimes cotton t-shirt at the summit. I always carry a spare poly shirt. Wet cotton in the cold, kills. Why not feel comfortable during the hot weather.

Welcome to the boards!in reply to: Vote for the post-event party locale #49771The owner said a mere 1 or 2 day notice is more than sufficent. I re-asked and she said 60 an hour, not a problem!
The Saturday night regulars need to eat, drink and play their pool games. Plenty of room for us!
Cal, if you can’t finish your meal, well I guess maybe, i’ll help finish it for you! 😛
in reply to: Vote for the post-event party locale #49769A sticky for sure.
A nice “you are cordially invited to attend an after flags get together” has got to feel like a special invitation.
I’m all for both MJ!

I guarantee you’ll love it!in reply to: Vote for the post-event party locale #49766I’ve eating there many times but never ordered beer so I do know their complete selection. I do know that Guinness is served.
Whether you order a club sandwich or a dinner, Mooseland has huge servings of great food at very low prices. You will find it difficult to finish your food and you’ll enjoy it very much.
in reply to: Mt. Zealand memorial hike #49814I learned more from you in this thread than from the local newspapers, Zealand hutmaster and da croo combined. Thank you for this important info.
Like your sig too!
😀in reply to: Bridge (de) construction at Zealand. #49827Thank you for the Zealand Road update dirt_girl. Until your most informative post, I too thought the road was to be closed.
in reply to: Backup teams #49693Don’t we wish to have back-up teams for all the 48 peaks and on call hikers. I think this should be implemented asap. It should be nicely organized weeks
ahead of schedule.Yes, it would be cool to see flags on Clay, Little Haystack, Mt. Hight, Guyot, Franklin, even on Boot Spur, Nelson Crag etc. There seems to be no end to the peaks that flags can be flown on.
in reply to: Summit Journal #49699When we took photo’s on the summit and had our note book written in by others, we asked them in advance if they did not mind being on this website.
All said it made them feel as if they contributed to the event and thanked us for doing it!
in reply to: Backup teams #49691After re-reading this thread, I feel we should combine everyone’s post and start another sign-up list for those that will cover a peak “on call”, those that want to join in to cover a peak “if the primary drops out”, and a new list of peaks as in SilentCal’s idea. One’s with a bare summit so even more mountains will be covered, more can join in and we can see all the flags.

The more flags the better!
:flag:in reply to: Potential Ski Area Locations #49616they might be the ones hunting us down for some free publicity in the coming years….
Well said Cal, it sure could happen that way!!
