The patches look fantastic!in reply to: My Thoughts on Today’s Event! #49041Very well written excerpt. Thank you!
in reply to: My Thoughts on Today’s Event! #49039I can’t read either Mari’s from the Nashua telegraph or Alpinista’s at Boston.com, Geesh. The pages have been moved or no longer exist. Hope someone photocopied them and will post.
in reply to: Looking back…Moving forward #49162I’ll go out on a limb. I took SC to mean: 1.) Offer to lead some new hikers. 2.) Have a new hiker select a peak to fly a flag on.
in reply to: Looking back…Moving forward #49160I am in full agreement with all your nine points. They are the reasons we should get together and cop some ideas. It makes a smooth, great event. Now that I think about it more, if we waited until late April, early May, I know a great free place to camp for the weekend and do it up big in the spring. It is in the foothills of the Kilkenney Range. Pine forest, outdoor water faucets, bbq grill, big sky, mtn views, with plenty of free dry wood for nightly campfires. C’mon and join in with your thoughts.

Lots of ideas do make a better event!in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49144Frodo: Won’t you kindly take donations to pay for a new flags website, to help defray the cost of the patches, and have some capital to buy flags, poles, and perhaps to buy calenders that I’m sure the participants would purchase and have a few for sale at the Mtn Wanderer, et al. It a great idea for the future.
I also think the idea of meeting in 6 months to brainstorm the next event is important and most necessary.

😉in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49135The patches look fantastic! I wrote you for three. May I make a contribution and ask for four patches. One extra for Ghostdog who hiked up Cabot but couldn’t make it to The Grill. Hey, this event was great fun. Let’s meet in six months to brainstorm next year’s event.

Let’s do up again — bigtime!in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49129…we are still missing some peaks: …What would we do for these peaks?
We can always re-climb them, fly the flag and explain they weren’t selected. I’m certain it would hasten others to participant.

We are going to re-climb these mtns!in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49123How about 4 flags on the 48 each month. The patches are unique. The calenders are certainly unique. Patches, calenders, and a website. Let’s get more feed back from the others. Let’s hear your thoughts.

So what do you think?!in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49121Silent Cal,
Another thought. A calender with the 12 best flag photos and the Original Flag on Mt. Liberty Photo as the cover. Maybe we could see if we could sell some at The Mountain Wanderer.
It would cover the cost of the proposed new flag website, pay for the cost of the patches AND generate P.R. (public relations). Yes, yes, yes. C’mon everyone, share your thoughts.

An incredible idea!in reply to: Flags on the 48 Patches #49120I view this design in awe. Since we plan to have this event every year, my feeling is to keep the patch design, just have a year change. That way most of us will have many patches for each year participated. You have my vote.
How do you feel about this? Please share your thoughts.

This patch looks perfect!in reply to: Time to start the Thank You’s… #49104SilentCal: Thanks for the kind words. I felt a bit hungry after the great day of hiking. I was getting sick of sandwiches and wanted a full meal. Glad I found it at The Grill! The second greatest part of the day was to meet all of the hikers.
Laura and Sky want me to say hello to all participants. It was spectacular!
