Thank you great guys for taking this mountain together!
Pilgram, I met you on Hale this year.
Mari, I’ve know you for years.
See you at the KOA. Cruise well!in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52649Up here in The Whites, the forecasters predict a partly cloudy morning with a light chance (a mere 30%) of afternoon showers. Nothing more. Look at Sunday, with blue among the high clouds, on the Long Trail in VT. We hike in hurricanes!
One uses their own jugdement based on the White Mountain’s forecast and ones comfort level. Look at what Ben Franklin did on purpose!
:flag:in reply to: whitemtn.org #52237Is a press release out there or in here?
in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52646I go with the flow. I’ve a 12′ x 12′ canopy that will be set-up. This always keeps the bad weather away. The weather gods know we are *prepared*. So any bad weather simply just moves on!
Canasta, pinochle, chess, campfires, & great fellowship. This is what makes a super weekend. As always. See you there! Woo-hoo!!
in reply to: 2006 Full Coverage!!! #52804Ditto!

There were a lot of children at the weekend planning meeting/camping in May!

Magic – any thoughts from our fire expert?
Softwood causes sparks that jump out of the fire and burn people and clothes. Hardwood is almost smokeless. Green anything is a no-no. If each participant brings just one bundle of hardwood bought at any campstore or supermarket, we can have one heck of a ‘ripper’. Just to take the chill out of the night air, of course!!
😮 😉 😀in reply to: Flag Pole Ideas #48654Ohh nice one, I like this idea for treed in summits a lot! Hale, Zealand, and Owl’s Head comes to mind immediately. Thank you so very much chip!
I pm’ed you about the bushwhack. Park at the Basin lot on the North bound lane of I-93 walk south down the pave bike path until you reach Liberty Springs Trail on your left (east side). It is still quicker than from the Flume parking lot.
Please stop by the KOA. My ETA is 7:30-8 pm. My best to all!
in reply to: Cards and Mission Statements are available! #53013KOA says check-in time 11 am. I plan to be there early too. I want to reserve a decent spot!
in reply to: Cards and Mission Statements are available! #53011MJ – Thank you so very much for your diligent and superb work. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
:beer:Cathy,
The original peak coordinater for Isolation had to cancel. I volunteered to full the void and the Flag’s crew said yes. For this reason I can’t be with your group, though most definitely will in spirit. Wishing everyone a great time and hope the group will at least stop by the KOA campground and visit, maybe camp too. It’ll be about 7 pm before I arrive. My best to all!
:beer:in reply to: Mt Chocorua — and the unexpected! #52988I’ve honored another fallen hero by posting a tribute to Maggie and Todd on the Fallen Heroes Memorial site. Today is the 3rd year anniversary of his death. God Bless America!!
in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52638I may be speaking too soon here. Perhaps the skin cream is dirt! Share it with us please.
😮 😀
:beer:in reply to: How did you learn of Flags on the 48? #52902I saw the post on the original AMC thread, many times. I was tired of staying home watching the story, the re-runs of the planes crashing over and over again. To clear my mind and get away from the tv, I decided to hike to Mt Liberty on Thursday the 13th or Friday, the 14th. It’s been 5 short years since that day. Only one other hiker summited the entire afternoon as I stared into the Pemi, hypnotized by the stunning views. I could have joined the Saturday group, but having just been there, I declined the invitation. Something I think about often!
