in reply to: Happy Flag Day! #52316

3 fine reasons to like Flag Day Stephen. If one isn’t related though, I believe #2) might win out over the others.
      🙂

Also this is the day to post our Flags on the 48 event at all the hiking sites if one has not already.

I liked the weather and was warm and dry. It must be the drover digs! I enjoyed the weekend extremely, the hikes, the planning meeting, the live band, the food and our great fellowship. This planning weekend and the memorial event itself gets bigger and better every year!

I’ll be there before Jay. Will be all set and ready to go when everyone else arrives. I’ll have the firesuit and heavy rain gear to help the others set up. Very much looking forward to seeing everyone!

Let it rain. See if I care!!

I don’t mind showers. It’s constant pouring rain that bothers me. Glad it’ll be off and on. Cal is bringing a tarp, maybe two. If you’re bringing some hardwood, I’m bring my hatchet and firesuit! 😉

The printer won’t be there, the contributer will. If you can bring 2 of last year’s cards, that may work with this years text.

I thought the layout for last year’s cards was superb!

It’s the standard color separation used in commercial printing. Each succeeding color on a different page is overlaid over the preceeding one until the copy is complete.

Remember the conditions we encountered past the tent platforms on Garfield a year ago. Same thing this weekend.

MJ, unless the rain these past days melt the remaining snow pack/ice, you’ll still see plenty of it left between the col to East O. I’ve been hiking a lot everywhere above 3500′ and just Sunday hiked the Tom/Field/Willey tranverse, I’ve seen 2′ left on the shaded trails. Add extra time for postholing too!

This will be high speed press printing. Each color on a seperate page and of the same proportion. If you can have it for this weekend, several 1000 will be printed and distributed to each of the peak coodinators!

Saturday, depending on the weather, I’m either going up Osceola from Tripoli or something else on the light side.

Sunday a group of us are hiking the Tri’s, most of the group will go up Scaur Ridge Trail. 12.1 miles, 3000′ elevation gain and a book time of 7:30. Btw, plenty of hard pack and ice left above 3800′ or so.

If it pours all weekend, I’ll still enjoy some chess, cards, and conversation!

Oh, and make mine Long Trail. Good ‘n you?!

SC, I’ll place some placards at all the hiking and outfitter stores up here.

MJ, your fot48 business cards last year were superb! I can’t wait to see what you design for the letterheads. When you design this year’s business cards kindly make an overlay of each color. Someone I know wants to contribute many for each of us to pass out.

Jay, thank you! Can’t wait to get in some games.

Chris, relax and enjoy, lets go hiking!

Tell ’em we definitely want the island as we did last year for tentsites (and it may perhaps spill out a bit.)

Establishing a “main” post event gathering is a great idea (as we have seen in the past), but the only problem I see with the KOA is it’s location…The Mooseland worked out quite well (except for it’s service) due to it’s location, but I think we could be limiting people by choosing a place not in a centralized location. Not that I have a better idea though 😀

If we feel the Mooseland was “central” and the Woodstock Inn or KOA c.g. too far South, then the Good n You Restaurant is only about 2 miles down the road from Rte 302. I’ve been in there before, it has low priced good food is large enough to hold our group. It has the “location.”

Also, I like the idea of the c.g., a campfire, and eating around it, having one’s favorite beverage. Not worring about driving anywhere and already being “home” for the night.

                                  Mtnpa, I like your spelling!!
