I would like to try to get by next year without your help. Thanks but no thanks.in reply to: A generational thing #51545Gram
It was great to have Matthew on Pierce, he is quit a Character, I hope to see him next year! The gray jays were happy to see him go though, they could swoop in and get some Cheerios he left behind! Thanks for the great company on Pierce, you have a wonderful family.in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51198After 20 years I was able to locate my Fathers burial Flag to fly on Pierce, my brother actually had it this whole time. Looks like another great day!

in reply to: Here we go! #51683Good Luck everyone, and stay safe!
After 20 years I have located the flag that was on my Fathers casket. We’ll be flying that one on Pierce tomorrow! :flag: :flag:
in reply to: Officially "Unofficial" Post Trip Libations #51358I called the Mooseland and spoke to Dawn and told her many people would be stopping in on Sunday starting around 4 or so. I told her probably not as many as last year, but more than her usual Sunday crowd. She said Thanks for the heads up and she would have a full staff and plenty of beer on hand.
 :flag:in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51197Great news Gram, look forward to seeing everyone there. Say hello when you pass me on the trail, I’ll be the one huffing and puffing sitting on the side 😀 .

in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51195OK , Saturday plans are now for Dry River Camground (Thanks MichaelJ). I have one tentsite, as of yesterday they had 4 remaining. We are in site #26. Dry Rivers # 603-271-3628. They are a few miles from the trail head.
in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51192Yes, I saw that. I’m thinking it’s a little too far south for me. You saw me hike, I need every minute I can get! 😆 I was looking at the Ammonoosuc Campground or Living Waters.
in reply to: Officially "Unofficial" Post Trip Libations #51351Some of the Pierce team will be stopping at the Mooseland for a quick bite before heading home.
in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51190I have made reservations at the Profile Deluxe Motel in Twin Mountain. We are still looking for a campground as that would be our preference. I am now planning a 7AM start time, with an 11:30 flag raising. Stay tuned for any changes.
in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51189Hey Matthew Carter’s Mom,
Welcome to the group. we look forward to seeing you up there. If you pass me on the trail, can I take a turn in the pack?in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51187I just want to make sure we get there in time for the 12:00 raising time and I’m not sure how long it will take all of us to get up there as there are a few that have not climbed before. We won’t start raising the flag until 11:30.
That would be great if you could bring a journal! That was one thing I wished we brought last year.
Still no definately plans for saturday. I believe we will all be leaving right after the climb, we all have to work on Monday. I’ll post more info as we get closer.in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51185Hi Gram
We will still have most of the group going rain or shine, but the newbies don’t have proper gear for bad weather.
We are leaving earlier only because most of us are very slow hikers and also tend to take a lot of pictures. It probably won’t take anymore than 20 minutes to set up the pole, we have a successful set up from last year :flag: . We used a 16′ heavy duty extendable painting pole that worked great. With 4 lines attached to stakes it held up well. You can get a look at it in the gallery for MT Hale.
We are still not sure where we are staying.in reply to: Pierce (Clinton) #51183Thanks Cal, hopefully the weather will be just like last year. We have a plan for bad weather, some will not climb depending on how bad it gets. Safety first.
