Sounds Great, looking forward to seeing everyone on the trails or at the top. Right now we are looking at a 6AM start, but that may change. We’ll post it here. Where are you planning on staying the night before? We will be somewhere in the area as well. :flag: :flag:
in reply to: Wow, 3/4 of the way already #51038I love the balloons idea!!! That may come in handy on a few peaks.
in reply to: Thankyou everyone. #51002I would like to second that. Thanks for all you have done. :flag:
in reply to: Sunday, September 11, 2005 #50617The Outtabreath team will be there this year. I think the plans for future events is a great idea as well. :flag:
Thanks for all you efforts.in reply to: Time to pay the piper #50398Just tell me where to send the check and I would be more than happy to pay the fees for the year. You guys donate more than enough in time, let us pick up the monetary side at the very least. 😀
in reply to: How much did you spend? #50407We spent about $45 for 4 of us, including the $25 coupon, Probably another $15 or so on drinks for Jen and Syl.

If you want to stay and wait for the tshirts, I would be more than happy to take over your trip for you.in reply to: Time to pay the piper #50389I would have no problem donating or sponsoring or whatever is needed to keep it going $100 or $200. I would rather not have a registration fee for climbing the mountain.
in reply to: Site Traffic #50367I know when I posted the link from the AMC board a couple of days before, the counter was at 800. Now it’s at 4000 (?)
Waking up to a beautiful day, we made the short drive down Zealand RD to Hale Brook Trail. We made it to the peak in time to set up by Noon, even with the 130 pictures I took on the way up. I had to make sure I had enough pictures of the trail to show my brother who could not come due to a knee injury. We had about 20 visitors to the top and a few helped us put the flag up tall and proud. Many stayed longer than they normally would have. We received a lot of thank you’s, and Jenifer/June? (sorry if that’s not right, I was still outtabreath when we spoke) gave us a copy of all the verses of the Star Spangled Banner, and told us how MichaelJ sang last year. I’m sure had I tried to emmulate MichaelJ, I would have cleared the peak pretty quickly.
There were a few moist eyes for sure, and the folding of the Flag was kind of surreal for me. All I could hear in my mind was “With the Respect and Gratitude of … “. Thanks for letting us participate, and we will be there again next year. Pictures should be posted tomorrow.
:flag:in reply to: Feedback FOT48 – 2004 #50308We had a wonderful time putting the flag on Hale. We had so many people that came through who stopped and had their moments on the cairn. Thanks to Scott, Sylvia and Jean for the company and carrying the flagpole, especially Sylvia for making the great memorial poster of her 4 friends that were lost that day. It made for some special moments on the peak.
Thanks Lisa for the use of your flag, its history made the day even more meaningful.
It was great to meet everyone at the Mooseland, you are all very special people. We are all planning to be there again next year, with an expanded crew.
Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers with the website and the planning of the event, thanks for making sure that day and those souls Are Not Forgotten.
Hopefully, we’ll see you on the trails.

“although this is not accurate in its origin, it may reflect the feelings of some”.
And while this was not originally the reasons why the flag was folded in this manner, it is in fact a ceremony that is used during some retirement ceremonies and is from the US Air Force Academy.in reply to: flag pole and flag available #50286Alpinista
We are doing Hale tomorrow, I have a small flag 3×5, but after seeing your flag (Flag envy) :flag: I think I might take you up on borrowing it. I am staying at Sugarloaf 1 site 20. I’ll discuss with the group this afternoon and try to track you down.
Great article on last years event on Suite101 by the way. -
