All Hale Tom! This years Group Leader Dada Grand Poobah Presidente El Supremo! :flag:
I’m thinking we might need a REALLY big flag if we want anyone to see us up there. Currently I have a 6’x10′. Maybe an extra length of pole, to get up over those trees. Currently, I have about 25′.
BTW: I signed up as “John Messinger” not as “Paradox” for no particular reason.

We looked for your flag, but could not see it.
Did you go to the true summit? We hung the flag at about 11:50 AM – only passed one couple on the way up who were coming down – was that you? It wasn’t noon yet at that point – I think it was about 11:40. Lots of folks came up while we were there…. later, going down, we only passed a single gentleman hiking alone on his way up, so if you are a “we”, I don’t know where you went, but it wasn’t to the summit.
TFR and I were on the summit of West Bond. We used Tom’s (TFR) binoculars and the 24x zoom on my camera but did not find your flag. What size was your flag?

NOAA update 4:36 pm 9/9/11 looks great:
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 21 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind between 11 and 17 mph.
Saturday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 39. West wind between 6 and 8 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind between 7 and 10 mph.
I’ll be bringing the BIG flag unless there is a big change in the weather report.
Six of us are committed. West Bond is the place to be, for the 10 year commemorative of the 9/11 attacks! Long live the spirit of America!
We have a light crew this year (only four [maybe 5] of us), another person would be quite welcome. Tim is very fit and fast, Tom, Laurie, and me are moderate. We have a long way to go (about 8 miles one way) although not that much vertical (<4K). I have reports that the path from Zealand TH to the Bondcliff trail should be smooth sailing. I do not know about the remaining mile+ on the Bondcliff Trail and the West Bond spur. I plan on getting to the Zealand TH before 6:30 am. I have two flags, the poles, and all the line. You will need your own food, beverages and clothing.
BTW I drive a tan colored, Ford Escape Hybrid, with a kayak rack on top (NH plates 220-????).
Sincerely,
John Messinger

They made darn sure, in all their usages of FOT48 and this photo, that they stated /their/ flag was at half mast per order of the governor.
Should all the flags on the 48 have been flown at half mast? Who would have known?
Tim
I think that they are refering to the flag they have flying at the entrance to the resort.
