        SJ,

        Beer for breakfast?
        I like your style!

We were planning on getting over to Bond, so I’m sure one way or another we’ll meet up.
        See you then!

          Hi Vernon,
Just a suggestion. Tecumseh is a fairly wooded summit. If you come down via the Sosman to the micro-wave tower, you get some decent views, and you can hike down the ski trails back to base.

20 plus feet is the word this morning (9/6). If you see headlamps on S Twin Saturday night it just means were getting a head start for Sunday….the Big Dig doesn’t have this much engineering!

Tom, we were planning a surprise visit to N Twin and a possible to visit Artex on Bond.
            So much for the surprise.

            Weather’s looking great….so I’m stoked.

On a side note….I know Brownie always brings prayer flags. Please consider bringing some for Katrina victims.

              I was on Eisenhower yesterday.
The old metal sign was still there in the cairn.
Looks to be a great weekend, so enjoy the views (to S Twin!), they’re pretty decent.

The South Twin croo will be staying at Galehead Hut on Saturday the 10th.
We plan on coming up from the Gale River Rd Sat AM so we can bag Galehead and N Twin in the afternoon, then on 9/11 move over to S Twin to fly our flag. :flag:

Fantastic move and congratulations to Chris!
I met Chris at the recent planning meeting and I’ve been an active member on his Hike-NH.com site for over a year, so I know his passion for both the Flags event and also for the Whites.
It’s a great addition to the already talented Flags Team!

                    Hey BobandGeri,

By any chance was it the gentleman that was carry the flag that flew over Kabul and was hiking the Franconia Ridge?
Just curious as I thought he had a great story for the day.

Mad Hut and Lakes are “full” for 9/10 as of right now but you can be put on the waiting list.
                      Just an FYI.

Definitely a cool idea, but I also agree with Frodo and Jaytrek. The true purpose should not be forgotten. However, It would be nice if it stays in line with the memorial to see why others make this hike. Hopefully some of those directly effected by 9/11 would be spotlighted and I’d also like to see the organizers here be the primary focus.
This event would never have gotten off the ground without them.

I personally like the idea of doing a different peak each year, but I can see where some people have a particular reason for doing a peak each year. Liberty is the first that comes to mind.
The only problem I see is that if this is announced, some people may look to it as a way to guarantee them a peak if they continue from last year and think they only need to do this 2 more years before the peak is permanently theirs.
Hopefully it doesn’t prevent potential new members from joining because they see the event as a “closed” memorial going forward.

Once again the hiking community steps out of the woods and proves to be a total class act.
It was great to put faces with names and to meet the people that contribute so much time and effort into the event.
Thank you all for a great weekend of fun and friendship, and for all the determination in keeping the solemness of Sept 11 alive in everyone’s heart. :flag:

Moose Brook campground (near Appalacia) has some decent sites that enclose a “field” that could be used as a common area. Limited RV’s due to no cable TV hook-up.
Plus it would be close enough to a lot of trails if anyone wants to hike. It has very reasonable rates and quarter showers!
