Hi Kyle,
Thanks for posting. Myself and my buddy Mike (aka Whiteout) and possibly one other friend will be hiking in Friday morning and spending two nights at the Guyot shelter. If you’re heading in Saturday morning at 6:30 you may be cutting it close to reach West Bond by noon, but only you know your own pace.
Also, Jamie Salamone and his group are hiking in Friday morning and spending the weekend at Guyot as well. He had been the West Bond peak coordinator for the past several years and I joined them in 2009. I spoke to him by phone a couple days ago (I thought he might have replied to your post by now) and they still have the rig they’ve used in the past. It’s a great setup with a 25′ pole (five 5′ pvc sections that screw together) and a large flag. You may want to send him a PM and touch base regarding the logistics. Perhaps we can have it all there when you arrive. See you soon. :flag:

As a former member of the Coast Guard myself this is very heartwarming that they agreed to do this. I hope some of the cadets are able to join you guys and get to see first hand what a great event this is. I’ll be on the West Bond crew this year. Once our flag is set I may scoot up to Bond where I can get at look at that big flag! Thanks for your efforts!
in reply to: South Twin #55105This was another successful and moving event this year. A great group and great weather capped off with a visit from the National Guard chopper.
Thanks to Michael J for coordinating, bringing the flag, rigging and all the patriotic items to enhance the day. It was great to see Sabrina and Terra again and give my dog Tigger his first big hike experience. I was very surprised how well he did on the hike. Nice to meet Jacob & Peter as well.

in reply to: South Twin #54828Sorry to hear this Greg. Was looking forward to meeting you guys. Many well wishes to you and your family.
in reply to: South Twin #54825This all sounds good from our end Mike. It’s been a while since the other South Twin participants have chimed in here. Hopefully you’ll get their 2 cents soon.
in reply to: Sat night 9/10/2011 #54955in reply to: South Twin #54823Hey Mike and Sabrina,
My son Kenny aka DJ K-Mo has decided to join us on this as well. He’s all signed up and excited to go. He has some good hiking experience. Sabrina might remember meeting him up on Glen Boulder when she was with Kim during an April snowshoe a few years back and also at Terras 48 finish on Carrigain. We’re in for the car spot. I’m putting the Thule cargo box on for extra gear capacity and we have a site at Ammo for Sat night. We’ll be cleaning up from Irene on the Tunnel Brook trail all day Sat so we’ll see you after that. The long range forecast looks fantastic!!!
in reply to: South Twin #54820All sounds good Michael. I will be coming up Saturday. I will likely be doing maintenance on the Tunnel Brook Trail then camping at Ammo. See you there!
in reply to: South Twin #54818Sounds great Michael! I’m in for the car spot as I’d much prefer to exit via a different route. I’ll be driving my Outback wagon so I’ll have some room for a passenger or two and gear. My dog Tigger will be joining us. We may come up on Saturday and do a shorter hike somewhere and stay over. Are you guys still at Ammonoosuc with Bob and Geri? Maybe I’ll try to grab a site there for Sat night. Also, I work in Waltham so let me know if you need any help with prepping the flag rigging etc. prior to that weekend.
Thanks for coordinating! :flag:
in reply to: 2011 Post Peak Gathering #54779I’m interested. It’s on my way home so it works for me.
in reply to: South Twin #54812Thanks Michael! I chose to join you and Sabrina this year on South Twin. Hope you guys don’t mind. I’d be willing to coordinate on a car spot for this. I’ll likely be bringing my dog Tigger along too. Sabrina met him (and helped me confirm my decision to change his name from Tiger to Tigger) on the trail adopter training day in June. Looking forward to another great year at this event!
