The peaks list on the site may not reflect this but we’ve had a cancellation on Mt. Isolation.

So we are looking for any volunteers.

Please do not pm me about this, I’m leaving for vacation. Instead please PM “New Hampshire” if you think you can help us out.

Good luck and THANK YOU to everyone who is participating. I hope you guys get great weather and some nice breezes to get those flags moving. Don’t forget to upload Pictures to the site afterwards.

None have been mass-produced but it is possible to make your own.

Here’s the PDF that MichaelJ created a couple years ago.

The tower is barricaded now and you can’t reach the platform. I suppose you could lash a pole up the side of the platform.

Puck- Is there a cut-off date in which you need to know by?

My present pole configuration has both PVC and electrical conduit. The electrical conduit section served me well for years until Mt. Jefferson’s high winds bent it all to hell. I straightened out the original piece and and now anchor it inside a eight foot piece of PVC. It’s overkill but it allows me to change setups fairly easy if the winds kick up. On windless days, I just hold the flag anyways like in my avatar. No sense being a kite on the windy days. :flag:

Jason, Your best chance to see Osceola’s flag might not come from the summit but from the top of the North Slide.

in reply to: New England Peaks #54297

When the event was in it’s infant stage, there was discussion as to just how big it should be. There was talk of the Hundred Highest, The six New England Highpoints, the NH 50 highest. Thankfully, it was settled that it would just be the 48 4000K peaks. The first year we filled I believe, 38 peaks and we were pleased as could be. 2003 brought us over 40 peaks and 2004 was the first year we covered them all. Smaller goals of pictures from all 48 have proved more elusive but I do have confirmation that we’ve successfully covered all 48 from 2004 to 2008.

Should it expand now? In my opinion, if we worry about covering more peaks, if we worry too much about the get-togethers afterwards, if we worry too much about publicity for the event, then it’s starts to lose it’s meaning and why we do it in the first place. It’s a memorial hike, not some fancy trick by hikers. We’ve hiked in blue sky weather and hiked in the pouring rain. In the end the only thing that’s really important is that the Flags are “still there”.

I welcome any photos from other non- 4k peaks. We’ve had some from Mt. Marcy, Little Haystack, Mt. Franklin and from where the Old Man used to reside.

Thanks a bunch for arranging this. I can’t attend because I’ll be in Montreal but do let me know how it works out. With the 10th anniversary coming soon, I’d like to see what works and what does not.

About ten days out and we still have Mt. Field and Mt. Washington unaccounted for.

Should anyone like Mt. Washington, please pm me if the Flags website does not allow you to sign up for it.

Thanks to all who have helped out!

It is possible that Dan is not directly registered with the site. This does happen. Hopefully he might register and post his trip route on the forums.

During signups, there was a snafu and all the e-mail addresses were lost so we can’t help you there.

If I can find a way to reach him, I’ll forward the info.

Did you go through these steps?

If the problem is more than this, I’m afraid I might not know what the problem is. I know we do have an issue with spam bombs in the commensts of some of the older albums. I wonder if something with that might be the problem.
