in reply to: some of last years signups stats #54022
All 48 Peaks were taken on August 1st which equals 16 days.
I’m really happy to see that 15 peaks have full registrations. Let’s try and hit 20!
in reply to: some of last years signups stats #5402147 peaks in one weeks time.
11 peaks with full sign-ups.The two peaks left are Cabot and Wildcat D but Wildcat D is spoken for but it does not reflect that on the peaks list.
It’s really nice to see some many familar names along with many new ones. Having lots of different groups out there participate is really nice to see.
in reply to: Join dates? #54063The Flags on the 48 site was spun off of the Alpinezone.com website. After 9/11, up until this website was created in 2004, The Flags Site consisted of a folder under the Hiking and Backpacking topic on Alpinezone. Greg, the founder and owner of Alpinezone, donated space on his site and his time to getting the event organized. Those persons that you see registered before 9/11 are old registrations from those days.
It’s strange how one hike with a couple people grew to be what it is today. :flag:
That reminds me, we need to update the history page.
in reply to: Good Hikes For Kids #54058I don’t think you can go wrong with either of those peaks. If your daughter did Moriah and you are planning on Cannon, then I don’t believe she would have much trouble with either Pierce or Jackson. If it’s a nice day, you should be able to see some other flags from either peak as well.

Just want to thank everyone for their signups. It’s really awesome to see the signup sheet fill as fast as it did.
in reply to: Ideas for 2008 #53933In years past, When the Flags on the 48 event was created and beginning to grow to what it is today, a planning meeting/gathering was held in late spring. These meetings were held at the Hancock Campground and as well as the KOA campground in Woodstock. From these meetings came a host of improvements to the event. The Website, the signup process, the post-gatherings come to mind. Since these past meetings have been so successful to shape the event, it has been decided that there will be no planning meeting this year. It has been decided that the signup date will be Monday, July 14th at 6:00 p.m. The Flags event will indeed still be on September 13th, 2008. Actually the event is planned out until 2016 so I think we are a little ahead of the curve.
Thank you everyone for your help in the past to make Flags what it is today. :flag:
in reply to: Ideas for 2008 #53931A planning meeting may or may not happen. We are still waiting for some votes from other steering committee members.
But for certain, the event is going to be held September 13th which is a Saturday.
BlueBlaze and Pedxing: I really like both of your ideas and I’ll do what I can to make sure you get a peak that can fit your ideas. Realize, that while Mt. Washington does have an Auto Road, the weather there can be downright awful at times so please plan for that.
Any Questions, just send me a pm
