in reply to: Weather predictions for Memorial Hike #52621
There is a tradition that has begun.
2004 Planning Meeting – Rain
2004 Event Day – Sunny2005 Planning Meeting – Rain
2005 Event Day – Sunny2006 Planning Meeting – Rain
2006 Event Day – ?????We’ve had periods of rain every time we’ve had a meeting and awesome weather for the Event Day.
No worries. :flag:
in reply to: Pre-POST Event Gathering #52532Hope you can make it Smitty!
Cathie and I will be dropping by for a visit both nights. I may bring a grill if I have room.

What was that deal again? Maybe I’ll make up for it on your 48th. :flag:
in reply to: Tom on Tom! #52444If you all start together, be sure to get a group photo!
in reply to: Team B&B on Garfield #52467Welcome Brian,
Hopefully you’ll get that view from Garfield you missed last time. Look for the small dot on North Twin. That would be me and Sonic. :flag:
in reply to: Flags Sign-ups Day 1 #5242837 peaks have been accounted for in about 70 hours of signups.
We do have someone interested in Cannon but are still looking for any interest for Washington in terms of non-hiker access peaks.
Some peaks surprise me as being there. I thought for sure that the three Bonds would go very quickly with a large group camping at Guyot like last year. The people that grab the last couple peaks are the ones that make this event what it is.
in reply to: We’re being interviewed by our local weekly. #52577Which paper in Western Conn? I’m not too far from there. The History button at the top basically tells the story of the event and how it came to be.
One of our hikers works for the AP. She helps us out greatly with the Press Release matters.
Also check out the Flagpoles and Flags section. Many good ideas there. PVC pipe is the most commonly used pole. Pay attention to the weight of your flag. High winds with a heavy flag may compromise your system. Test it in the backyard.
At least you won’t have to work too hard to get a flag visible from Jackson’s summit.
Good Luck Chip!
in reply to: skiguy on Jefferson #52458Skiguy, Check out the gallery from years past. Jefferson has a few entries. That could be helpful for figuring out how to rig something up.
in reply to: FREE flag pole #52352Take pictures and email them to me. Also just for kicks, get a diameter of the tree where you think we could anchor it. How tall is your flag?
in reply to: Flags Sign-ups Day 1 #52425The auto-replies took a little bit of time, I believe, because the system was a little swamped. I got mine about 45 minutes after I signed up. Flume is a dandy!
in reply to: Flags Sign-ups Day 1 #5242232 peaks in four hours. Over 120 hikers. Some familar names and a few new ones.
I guess I need to still ping a few people.
All we need now is good weather :flag:
in reply to: FREE flag pole #52350John it’s a fairly easy design. How tall do you think you’ll need to have it to get it over the tree’s. Also, how heavy is your flag. I may be able to help you on this one.
in reply to: Flags Sign-ups Day 1 #5241924 peaks in a half hour. Outstanding
Thank you everyone.
It’s funny the first year we could not get 24 commitments for nearly a month. Times have changed.
