in reply to: Perfect weather for 9/11 #49942
At Lakes of the Clouds this morning the saturday forecast was Mostly Sunny with highs in the 60’s. The eight-ball confirms this…. Just wish I could have a faster terminal….
in reply to: Did the……. #49970Way to go! it’s good just to get the word out.
in reply to: Showers in the Twin Mountain area #50241Sorry, but that hiker smell is dutifully required. As long as it does not peel paint, you’ll be fine
in reply to: Welcome to the 2004 Routes/Teams Forum #50100This is really great to see. I’m not much use at the library but let me know if there is anything i can do.
in reply to: 100% again! Wildcat D taken! #50161Info Packet mailed. Ironically the last copy I have. Let’s hope we don’t need another. 😛
in reply to: Flag Upgrades #49545I’m debating how to fly my flag. We will have two flags on Monroe. I’m thinking instead of planting it, trying to find one of those holsters that flagbearers wear during parades to keep the flag steady. If it’s not a crazy windy day, it might be cool to some fellow hikers to actually hold the flag and have their picture taken. If it’s to windy, we’ll just tie me down to rocks so I Don’t fly away 🙄
in reply to: Did the……. #49961Well first the dates need to be changed. plus the website address. Lisa is right. Get straight to the poin as to why this is being done. Maybe a warning about safe hiking and weather.
in reply to: Welcome to the 2004 Routes/Teams Forum #50085Idea: If we get no response by Sunday night, could an e-mail reminder go out then to remind people. Not everyone rechecks the site after they sign up.
in reply to: Did the……. #49954Last year I can remember reading in the Union Leader under the 9/11 memorial services that the event was listed under “White Mountains”. Anyone know if the paper is still listing the event?
in reply to: Signup Confirmation? #50050I sent out packets again to those that had recently signed up. In Hindsight, I should have included directions to the Mooseland Grill, but I did mention it was in Twin Mt.
in reply to: Solo Hikers on the Bonds #50060A suggestion if your not starting to hike until six.
You could consider spending a night at the hut but if not there are many level places along the Zealand trail to basecamp from. Sun-set is around 7:00. Be Safe! :flag:in reply to: Day Hiking or Base Camping/Backpacking? (2004) #50040Dayhiking and hanging out at Mt. Liberty Cabins in Lincoln.
in reply to: Need an "easier" peak #50075Eisenhower is not bad at all via the Edmands Path. The Hancocks are also not too bad. There is milage there but much of the hike is along woods roads. Garfield is a ten-miler but never gets overly taxing and if it’s a nice day, it’s one of the finer summits in the Whites. Plus your that much closer to the Mooseland Grill. Mt. Tom is also quite easy to do and you can get views of the Pemi and the Presidentals from both outlooks.
in reply to: Solo Hikers on the Bonds #50058I would consider the Zealand route as well. It’s a more seheltered route and you’ll find much more traffic along the AT than you would if you were heading over the Bonds. I saw 4 people on my Owl’s Head hike after the Wilderness trail but saw about 50 on all my Bonds trips. Basecamping at Guyot is one of the pure joys of the White Mountains and with the caretaker there and the Hut crew at Zealand Falls, your spouse’s fears should be minimal. Thanks for grabbing West Bond!
in reply to: Mooseland Grill Tally 2004 #49910The eight-ball reveals that 2 persons shall be arriving from Mt. Tecumseh.
MntMagic—Will you be letting the Mooseland know of our number.
Did we include the folks that mistakely posted on the 2003 tally post?
