False alarm. But the intial track was cause for concern. Great Britain though may get some tropical weather. That’s just shows how bizarre the weather is this year.

I plan to go and check the kanc from time to time this week to see for myself as I am up here on vacation.

Since you are the first to request Clay, it’s yours if the Hancocks prove to be a no-go.

However if it is open to the Kanc hairpin, I have not heard from the South Hancock group yet, so I am wondering if you can run a small flag there.

Yeah, this storm has thrown an unforeseen monkey wrench into the works, but we’ll get around it.

I’ll keep you posted here. :flag:

Think of it as Owl’s Head with a much better view.

Very happy to see that you and your gang are going to still try and get the peak.

The Steering Commitee is looking into moving the hikers on North and South Hancock to another peak that we do not usually cover. If you guys would like to still do the roadwalk, that is fine. However the option is open if you would like to move to one of these peaks:

            Mt Clay
            Mt. Franklin
            North Lafayette
Adams 4 or 5 or JQ
            Sandwich Dome

            Welch and Dickey

I’d just like to get you settled by Friday. I also may need to move both Hancock peaks as well so the sooner you know , the easier it will be to plan around.

Just a thought Jeremy. If Carrigain proves too difficult to access because of road conditions, how about moving to another peak that we normally do not cover.

                Examples:
                Mt. Clay
                Mt. Franklin
                North Lafayette
Adams 4 or 5 or JQ.
                Sandwich Dome

Dennis, I’ll be up in the Whites the whole week prior and I’ll give you a heads up if I learn something new.

There are sometimes last minute cancellations that occur. I’ll keep you in mind if there happen to be some. The weather may be key here but that’s not going to happen. We ARE getting bright sunshine and a steady breeze.

Cannon, will have three Flags that I know of. Sometimes, more than one flag is raised at the summits.

It took about ten days but we now have full coverage . There is still room for folks to sign up as helpers.

Roughly ten hours gone and 46 peaks accounted for. Can we get all 48 in under 24 hours???? Washington and Wildcat D remain.

If you need to make corrections, you may pm me and or send e-mail to us by clicking on the “e-mail” button on the left of the screen. Please be very patient with corrections and have another peak in mind if you do not get the peak that you wish.

Should you miss out on the peak you wish, there is nothing wrong with sharing with another group. You’ll get the chance to hike with like-minded individuals and can make some future hiking buddies.

Our goal is simple. Cover the 48 peaks with flags and get everyone down safely. This is the 10 anniversary year. As a bonus, I would like to see pictures from all 48 peaks this year. Don’t forget your cameras. Videos are also acceptable.

Thanks go to all the hikers that commit to this memorial. I wish I could shake all your hands but unless you are on my peak, that will be impossible. I do plan a little video greeting to everyone that I will post on Youtube after the event.

Let’s make year 10 the one we won’t forget! :flag:
