Hi Chris, we’re so happy to hear from you!
Sounds like you have some legs and a sense of adventure. If it was easy anyone could do it. Looking forward to meeting!

Unless the group grows beyond our current numbers, I don’t see any reason to spot another car. We’ll be spotting ours the night before, rather than the morning of, and can move everyone back to the start at the end of the day if need be. We will divvy up flag/pole/gear in the morning and everyone who wants to will get to be part of the process.

If anything is on your mind, just reach out, and we’ll wait to hear from the rest of the team. Watch this space if the weather goes sideways for next weekend. We’d likely call an audible and do in and out from Zealand or in and out over the Twins…

          Hello Bugleboy,
If you have another rig that you’re willing to bring, I say why not. And we will have a spare flag with us as well.
I also considered just procuring a makeshift pole from the blowdowns on the W Bond spur….your call. Between us, we can certainly cover the peak if need be.

Bearing in mind that the guy that signed for that peak may well have it covered…

Peter, I tried your phone number but didn’t get through. Feel free to try me at 603 494 0918

            Hi Jim,
No problem. We’ll check on the way by and take care of it if needed.

                Hi Bugleboy,
Thanks for checking in. We’re looking forward to meeting everybody for this years Flags.
There will be others joining us who are coming from both the north and the southern routes. I just need to know if any of your gang wants to hike in with us on the morning of the event. Please direct them to this page if they are interested. Does your post indicate that some of you will staying at Guyot before or after?
In the past it has only taken about 5 hours to reach Bond (including side trips) from the Zealand side so maybe we can be flexible with the start time if everyone agrees.

Let me know who wants to meet up at the trailhead and we’ll plan from there.

                Thanks, Steve

Hi Ben, Jen, and any others,

Weather still looks great and chilly. I’m sure we will all be prepared for the potential summit temperatures for the duration of our stay at the top.

Holly and the rest of the crew will be joining us at 6:00 at the Gale River trailhead. It’s easier for the car spotting and gear division, and everyone is willing to do whatever… The rig consists of 4 easily carried pole sections, 2 coils of rope with a 3rd for unforeseen circumstances, and the flag itself. It withstood the high winds of Madison a couple of years ago so we should be set with this forecast. We’ll dole out stuff to those who want something to carry, but no one should feel obligated. There are more people than parts and, of course, we can switch off whenever we need to.

It’s a respectful endeavor to be sure, but let’s keep it fun and enjoy our day in the mountains.
                    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

                      That’s perfect Jen.
I have a dark green F-150 with 4 thousand footer and VFTT stickers on the back window.

                        Hi Jen,

For anyone who wants to spot a car, we could meet at the Gale River trailhead just before show time. Maybe 6AM?
We don’t know specific numbers yet but with just a couple of vehicles we could transport every one over to North Twin for the start. At the conclusion of the day your car will be waiting for you… I have a truck that will move 5 in addition to me and any gear. We will make sure everybody gets back to their car regardless.

I can’t rule out someone wanting to head back out the same way we went in, and they will be unaffected.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Ben and Jen, great to hear from you.
The forecast for Saturday is looking decent and hopefully good enough for a flyby. Can’t wait!

It’s certainly not imperative that everybody travels together, and I appreciate that some may be more comfortable with an earlier start. If Ben wants to spearhead the early departure that’s cool with me. I have no problem starting at any time so I’ll likely plan on joining you early birds. Holly and any other speedsters (there are some in this group) can come along later. As Jen has said, an early summit is better than the alternative.

We can still coordinate car spotting for the early crew if anyone is interested.

Stay in touch, it should be fun.

                            Hi Kyle,
I’m good with a 8 o’clock start now that I know everyone’s comfortable on trail. There are two more joining us that are technology adverse and didn’t want to sign up online, but they are fast movers.

We have the flag and associated equipment, now we just need help from the weather gods. We’ll expect to be ready to go from the hikers lot at Lafayette Place by 8 then. Green f-150 with 4K and VFTT stickers on the back window.

Looking forward to meeting you both as well as the dog.

                            Steve
