I think that is the only Kabin near the tent site, correct? We are again across the grounds. See you then!

It sounds like a great idea, but I know what you’re suggesting could only come as a separate memorial hike apart from the “Flags on the 48”.
I’m not quite sure what you mean. A new umbrella name could be created, or it could just be 2 separate groups.
I was a little hesitant to post this topic, as I do not want it to lead to less coverage on the NH peaks. But I don’t see a whole of lot of participation from NY’ers right now.

WE drove along the highway AM 9/12 and noticed the old man site was decorated with the flag…also noticed it missing that afternoon.Did it blow away? or did someone take it down? It was so spectacular we stopped and photographed it against a perfect blue sky. Thanks for the opportunity to photo this great symbol of freedom to share with others.Byron and Shirli,Adventure Image Photography, North Woodstock,NH
Please post the image if you can!

Chip,
I believe I remember seeing your plan for Jackson, a peak I have thought about too. I think we met at KOA – seem to remember the Jackson connection. But then I may have already tasted my homemade “Blueberry Flume”. Did you get a chance to try some out? We were the Flume Team with about 5 tents at the front corner of the circle.

P.S. I heard a discussion of doing all 48 peaks for FOT48 events, I would be 102 yrs old if I did, maybe my son could do it! 😆Does it count if you do Field and Tom on one hike and North and South Twin on another, etc.? In other words, is it just one peak per year, or can we get credit for multiple peaks, as long as we are there when the flag is flying?
😀

I discovered near the summit that the FOT48 hikers have a fan club! Liz and Dave chatted with me for a bit while Ken set up the flag. They watch the web site, read the posts and know several of us by trail name! They knew where some of us were hiking and were quite positive with their opinions of the FOT48 Event. The three of us watched the flag snap open with the wind and echoed a single response…wow. I wish to extend another invitation to them: come join us next year.
Wow, groupies! 😀

what’ve most people done ? I figure the fewer holes I need to drill in the pole, the more stable it will be.
Duct tape is your friend! 😀
Hey, maybe we should have a practice session Friday night at KOA!

If people/groups can not only confirm their peak in their Trip Reports but others as well…
