in reply to: How to Post 2008 Photos #54151
Is there any way you can fixup the gallery so that the 2008 pics are at the top of the list? They are all in order of year but the latest ones which are at the bottom and on the 2nd page. Am I whining?? Apologize but it seems logical (I am an engineer).
Thanks for listening. Trekmanin reply to: After the Hike #54221The homebrew this year has been tested out on a Miata Club group and no complaints were heard! It’s called Shiner Bock and lives up to my motto … “you can’t trust a beer you can see through!”
We will be staying off campus from the KOA but plan to be there Saturday evening for food and imbibement. Hope to see you there and share some of the brew.

Hi Again,
On vacation at the end of July, I have scoped out the trailhead for Signal Ridge Trail. It is 2 miles in off Rte 302 on Sawyer River Road. Now, Sawyer River Road is just about 10 miles from Highland Center and also 10 miles from Glen Junction (where Rte 302 and Rte 16 split). Left if coming from Glen, right if coming from Bretton Woods/Highland Center.
Plan to be at the trailhead by 7:00 Saturday morning so we can divide the gear in our packs, we will hit the trail at 7:30 SHARP! This will allow 4 hours to get there to setup the flag. The trip is 5 miles each way with just over 3 hours book time, so we should be good for all.
For those who have not been with our croo before, we have a 6 x 10 flag and a 20-foot pole made from electric conduit. It has survived some 30+ knot winds at Garfield and a thunderstorm on Flume, so we have some reliable hardware.
Please send an IM if you’d like more info and also watch the forum as I will post any new info here later. Welcome to all the others who have signed up for Carrigain, should be a good time, it always has been.in reply to: Should you have a problem with signups. #54252Clicking on “Peaks” now produces some funny codes instead of just the signup names etc.
in reply to: Owl’s Head #54161An admirable job you took on Jay … here’s to your efforts and willingness to do Owl’s Head. :flag:
in reply to: Woodstock Inn & Tavern #54122Good time to stop by KOA for a home-brewed Willey House SeptemberFest! Only maybe 10 minutes away.
It is official – the name of the brew this year is “Willey House SeptemberFset”. I will have bags of ice on it when we settle into the KOA and serve on Saturday after the hike when stories can be told. We will be in one of the Kabins this year.
BTW … Dirt and I have taste tested the brew just so none of you could POSSIBLY be disappointed. You will not be disappointed!
  :beer:in reply to: Two-Way radios #53841Here is what I found at the FCC website:
If you operate a radio that has been approved exclusively under the rules that apply to FRS, you are not required to have a license. FRS radios have a maximum power of ½ watt (500 milliwatt) effective radiated power and integral (non-detachable) antennas. If you operate a radio under the rules that apply to GMRS, you must have a GMRS license. GMRS radios generally transmit at higher power levels (1 to 5 watts is typical) and may have detachable antennas.Licensing
Before any station transmits on any channel authorized in the GMRS from any point within or over the territorial limits of any area where the FCC regulates radio services, the responsible party must obtain a license. The FCC usually grants GMRS system licenses for a five-year term. To apply for a GMRS system license, you may file online through the Universal Licensing System (ULS), or file FCC Form 605 manually. New filers can learn more about ULS in its getting started tutorials. See Fee Requirements for FCC Form 605 (pdf) for current licensing fee information.Poking around some more I see $85 mentioned as the 5-year fee.
in reply to: Two-Way radios #53840These radios are very common at ski areas … how better to connect with the kids at lunchtime. I don’t think many are FCC registered. I have a pair and they work pretty good … but on a big ski area with several faces, they don’t go several miles AND around ridges too.
in reply to: Ideas for 2008 #53939Tonight is brew-night! Dirt and I will have the “Willey Brew” bubblin’ before the night’s out!
:beer:in reply to: Ideas for 2008 #53937Ingredients were bought today for this year’s batch of homebrew. Just thought a few of you would like to know that I am on it. Brewing will happen likely next weekend.
Cheers … Trekman  :flag:in reply to: Ideas for 2008 #53935Thanks guys, our team is already getting antsy about going again and planning for the date. We should be ready for signup on 7-14 at 6:00 p.m. too … worked well last year I think.
More homebrew this year again?
-TrekManIt was another successful year with a great crew traveling to Garfield’s summit. Always good to share the load of pole and flag, thanks Dirt for holding the rain back as well as clearing the clouds once on top for some reasonable views.
Cheers to all for their efforts and prayers to those who lost loved ones back in 2001.
